Amazingly easier than expected September 19, 2007 P. Gambling (Norfolk) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I'm using this as a range extender to a non-Belkin access point (a Netgear SWAMRU access point with USB printer server built in). Using it WITHOUT WEP or WPA security. Having read several reviews, I bought this with trepidation expecting to spend hours setting it up as a range extender. I had already tried the F5D7130 model (NOT the Universal model) and failed utterly to get it to work. A call to the excellent Belkin tech support revealed that the 7130 will not work with non-Belkin kit. This, 7132, was a dream. Plug in to mains. Wait till lights settle down. Press AutoConnect button on back for 10 secs then release. It set itself up immediately and has been working wihtout a glitch ever since. Took about 60 secs once out of the box and unwrapped. What more can you ask? BUT I haven't needed to use WEP or WPA.
quite troublesome to set up but really good once its going November 26, 2007 A. Watt 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
It took me just over half and hour to set this up on a laptop, since this is the first wireless network I have set up I cannot give a direct comparison to anything else but I'll make one thing clear: ignore the instuction manual, its useless, it basically tells you briefly how to set it up in repeater mode, but as I was setting it up in Access Point mode this was no use to me. The manual on the cd is much more detailed and thorough. I have to say though that once it was set up it has been really good, giving a good signal throughout our two storey house.
Easy to setup. Don't know why other people had problems. January 16, 2008 A. Wright (Leeds, UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I, like a lot of the other users on here, was slightly put off by the reviews saying that item was difficult to set up. They couldn't be more wrong. It took me all of two minutes to set this up and boost my wireless signal from downstairs, from poor to excellent. Don't hesitate to buy this just because of comments from other reviewers.
no problems February 7, 2008 family IT support I hesitated before buying this as some people have had problems. However I found it completely straightforward and it took all of 1 minute to get set up and to connect the laptop to the internet in a room where we had never previously been able to get a signal. Pages don't seem slow to load so I'm very pleased with this purchase
Did as expected March 11, 2008 Lord Melch Worked out of the box. Either setup with button if using non-secured network or manually if using secured, or combination of both. Quick guide and manual - explain how it works.
