Product Description Cable/DSL 54 Mbps Wireless Router lets you experience the blazing-fast network wireless speeds of 54 Mbps up to five times faster than the popular 802.11b wireless network. These higher speeds make it a snap to web surf, download large files, video conference, stream high-quality digital movies, MP3 music and photos and play online games. This wireless router also works with 802.11b wireless products so you can use it with your existing 802.11b devices and your new 54 Mbps, 802.11g devices. Auto-sensing chooses the fastest connections possible on your 10/100 Mbps wide area network and four local area network ports. True Firewall (SPI) advanced security provides maximum protection from professional hackers. URL blocking and e-mail alerts provide parents with controls to limit access to inappropriate web sites and monitor children's access. Simple to install, you just follow the cues shown on your PC screen and your router will be up and running in no time. Smart Wizard auto-detects and configures for the best ISP connection, while UPnPTM (Universal Plug and Play) makes it easy to use your computers, gaming consoles and other client devices wireless and Ethernet for gaming, instant messaging, and other applications.High-speeds propel media-rich content across your network in no time. You can conveniently share your cable/DSL connection with many users on your network with or without wires. Delivers 10/100 Mbps (auto-sensing) WAN and LAN connections and interoperability with 54 Mbps (802.11g) and 11 Mbps (802.11b) devices over a 2.4 GHz band wireless network.A true firewall secures your network against hackers: Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) and Denial of Service (DoS) attack prevention averts potential threats by scanning incoming traffic and Network Address translation (NAT) shields your networked devices from intruders. Powerful WEP encryption (40/64- or 128-bit) on the wireless LAN conceals your information from eavesdroppers. MAC Address C

It is fantastic! October 12, 2003 40 out of 40 found this review helpful
This really is one great bit of kit. I have a desktop, laptop and NTL broadband. The router allows 4 wired network connections so I didn't have to buy a wireless card for my desktop. Setup was Plug and Play and instantly gave me a home network and configurable firewall.I bought a Netgear Wireless 54G PCMCIA Adapter for my laptop and that was also very straight forward. I get 100% signal strength all over the house. If you're tempted then go for it.
Very easy and simple to setup September 8, 2004 D. Dickinson 27 out of 27 found this review helpful
I purchased this Netgear Router as I sometimes work from home, supporting a network out of hours and wanted to use my existing Telewest broadband connection to VPN in to the companies network. The router automatically detected the connection from the cable modem and my home PC was up and running in seconds, it then took me a matter of minutes to setup the wireless connection from my work laptop - I plumpted for the 128 bit WEP encryption and I also used the Access Control List for greater security. The web interface is very friendly and easy to use.Its been extremely realiable so far and is a very tidy, neat device that discreetly flashes away to let you know that its connected and all is well. There are quite a few more features in the router, NAT, static routes, etc which I will probably never use but are there if you have a small business setup. In all, I'm very pleased and recommend it.
NETGEAR Are Turning Me Into A Wireless Geek! July 7, 2004 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
Working from home is nice, but I used to be restricted to the living room because of the cable... which was 'interesting' when the kids were on school holidays!!!Now however, I am free! And becoming a serious Wireless Geek. First off I use the WGR614, plugged into my NTL Set top box. Set Up here was so simple I couldn't believe it... in fact I was connected wirelessly with out doing anything! However I have now gone back and added security, which was, in itself a piece of cake. RANGE IS GREAT! Getting full coverage throughout the house and out into the garden. I have now also purchased a WGE101 Wireless Ethernet Bridge, which is connected to the PS2. This means the PS2 can now be permanently relocated to the kids room (oh yes!!!), but still let them have Onlime Gaming capabilities. Finally my HP iPaq h2210 is connected to the router through the use of a NETGEAR MA701 Wireless CF Card. Now the laptop is put away when I'm not working, the kids are safely ensconced up stairs but I can still quickly check the internet or email on the handheld. THANK YOU NETGEAR!!!
Great piece of Gear January 7, 2008 D. Awdas (UK) 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
Very easy to set up to Virgin cable modem using Wizard. Took me about 5 mins with no hassle. Three tips 1. Get details of router version which can be found on underside of routee ( default username and password can also be found there. 2 Print out cabling setup instructiond from CD as you have to switch off compputer and modem before connecting everything up. 3. Go onto netgear website to check for latest firmware and check security setup.
