Edimax EW-7318USG Wireless USB LAN Adapter 4dBi Antenna, 802.11b.g 54Mbps February 8, 2008 Peter Whitaker (England) 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
The translation in the guidebook might not be the best but the instructions are clear and logical. I had no problems loading the software and following the on screen prompts. The adapter was up and running within 10 minutes, which included optimising it for increased performance. It has replaced a Netgear WG111T and performs much better. As well as the aerial, which genuinely works, there's also a cable that allows you to move the adapter to further improve the signal if necessary. For the price this product offers great value for money.

What a great product February 20, 2008 Impressed Customer (London) 29 out of 30 found this review helpful
Just received this morning. All set up within 5 minutes, well impressed with it. It's connected to my Netgear DG834G, and I'm using Vista. As a tip, the disc comes with old drivers, so I went to the Edimax website, and navigated through to download the Vista drivers. Without plugging it in, I then ran the Vista installer, which seemed to not be doing much for a good 2-3 minutes. After that, you'll see an icon for it in the system-tray. Right-click that, and open the configuration tool. Scan for your network, add in the key (I use 128bit) and hey presto. The connection is as fast, if not faster, than my the wired ethernet connection i used previously. My desktop is about 10meters away from the router, and I'm getting 100% link quality. Very very impressed. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
Ubuntu friendly and very sensitive July 29, 2008 Ray (London UK) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This really is a great piece of kit. Worked first time without any set up on Ubuntu (Hardy) 8.04 and raised the reported signal strength of my local FON node from about 35% to 75% - often higher. Highly recommended.
superb bit of kit - average it guy May 26, 2008 Mr. P. Walker (blackpool uk) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
excellent bit of kit, especially when you turn it into a uni directional antenna on freeantennas.com using tin foil and cardboard! i get a 45% signal from my friends which is across the road and about 75 metres away, it picks up most signals around the street, and when using a usb cable extension, you can literally position it where ever you want. and speeds are very fast, on bbc iplayer i was getting 600-700 kbps based on a network stretched out for 75 meters using a bog standard netgear router on aol adsl up to 8 meg. enough said really
