Product Description The Eee PC is a highly functional, versatile and user-friendly computer, that everyone will have no problems using. Indeed, with fast boot-up time, it can be switched on and operated like any electrical appliance. The Eee PC is the realization of what computing was always meant to be - universally accessible in its simplicity, empowering in its functionality. The Eee PC achieves this through a special combination of features that ASUS has assembled in this new platform that, in furthering the information revolution, has the potential to change the lives of many. The Eee PC is a fully-functional productivity tool, its processing capability also makes it eminently suited for computing purposes. In addition, not only is the Eee PC equipped with full wireless connectivity, it also features integrated webcam and microphone so that activities like video conferencing is truly wireless and fuss-free. While the Eee PC is a fully functional Internet tool, its multimedia capability also makes it eminently suited for entertainment. Store, view and listen to videos, images, music, ebooks or update blogs, upload photos and videos online - the Eee PC juggles learning, work and play with equal flair. At first glance, the Eee PC looks like a notebook, only smaller, at around half the size of a conventional notebook. Despite its size, it offers rich communication features. The Eee PC can be configured to either display a simple user interface for first-time PC users, or full desktop mode for greater functionality. It is also compatible with Windows XP. Not only is the Eee PC highly compact, it is also very robust. The solid state disc (SSD) design uses Flash storage that can handle all kinds of shocks and bumps on any journey. It is also very lightweight, at less than 1kg. The Eee PC is hence an excellent travel companion, a powerful, robust and much more reliable information tool that can be deployed freely in the daily environments.

Very cute, Good value September 30, 2008 L. Hennessy (Twickenham) 85 out of 87 found this review helpful
This really is a cute-looking little machine - the price is great, and being a non-techie I was pleased that it runs Windows (and XP too - I prefer it to Vista). It's perfect for surfing the internet on the move, and it's fast enough to cope with any demands that might ensue. If you want to use it as a conventional laptop, you'll need to factor in the price of an external DVD/CD rewriter drive: Slimline USB External Dual Layer DVD+-RW drive. Reads and writes both CD & DVD media. Slim and portable drive for laptop, a mini optical mouse (the touchpad really is a last resort, and as they're so cheap, why not):USB Mini Optical Retractable Mouse 800dpi 3 Button Scroll Silver Black Wired ideal for Laptop / PC, a wireless router Netgear WGR614UK Wireless 54G Cable Router, a 2gb memory card for increased performance (this is the one that fits inside the Asus)Kingston 2GB 667MHz DDR2 Non-ECC CL5 SODIMM and perhaps a nicer case (one comes provided, but it's more like a toiletries zip-bag; no protection against impacts) this is a small problem at the time of writing this, as the Asus 904 is relatively new, and I can't find a case that fits it - I mistakenly bought a case designed for the Asus 900, which is a smaller machine. UPDATE: I've got in touch with ASUS (a horribly long phone call to Holland), who have informed me that the 904 is an inch or so smaller than the 1000 - this means that at the moment there are no cases available for the machine; it looks like I'm stuck with the zip-bag for the time being until the case manufacturers catch up, which won't be long according to the Asus minion I spoke to. This might be a slight negative for some potential buyers. The 904 is slightly larger than some of its stablemates; it's still small enough to be fantastically portable but manages to have an 8.9" screen so that you don't need a magnifying glass to read the web pages you browse. The keyboard feels very responsive - it's nice and springy, and doesn't feel cheap and nasty like quite a few laptop keyboards. it was also VERY easy to set up - all I had to do was turn it on. Ideal for non-techies, parents and grandparents who want a machine that's simple to use, easy to set up, and doesn't take up much space. The amount of space that I've gained in the living room now that the computer desk has gone is another bonus! Wholeheartedly recommended. Remember to check out the same model in white, as the prices vary sometimes.
Excellent value for money and cute too November 6, 2008 Janet Edmonds (France) 22 out of 22 found this review helpful
I'd been searching for a long time for a good value notebook to supplement my home-office PC. Finally I plumped for this little gem and I've not been disappointed. The battery life seems adequate and it loads in double quick time. Whilst the screen size is small you get used to it quickly enough, after all if you want a larger screen you need to think of getting a much more expensive and bulkier laptop. This is exactly what it purports to be, a light-weight, easy to use, inexpensive tool. Don't expect it to match a full size laptop it won't and if you need to run additional software then you'll need to add an external dvd/cd drive. Downsides if there are any - I touch type and it's taken me ages to adjust to the right-hand shift key, but I'm being really picky here.
Excellent piece of kit December 19, 2008 R. Blevins (Cranleigh - UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Recived mine this week and I can't believe how simple it was to set up and how well it performs. I was on line and e-mailing within 10 minutes of turning it on for the first time and that only because I followed each step of the quick start guide slowly. Extreamly long battery life, at present getting around 4.5 to 5 hours which is 3 times more than my regular 800 HP laptop. I purchased this unit for when I'm travelling and reckon it's will be great for this, having said that, I've been using it all day at home as well while my wife grabs the HP and it's been no effort to do so. well built and very light with a very neat and small power supply. and seems quite robust. Small mouse touch pad a little fiddly but this is a mini laptop. Used with a cordless mouse it's perfect. highly recomended
