Vivitar 6200W October 18, 2007 A. Mears (UK) 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
What a cracking little Camera. I bought it as a weather proof, point and shoot camera for use by a Pillion Passenger on a motorcycle to take pictures on the move. While the LCD display is not always easy to see, for the use I put it to, it doesn't matter as it is impossible to compose a shot in these circumstances in any case. But it is quick to turn on and fairly quick between shots. Taking a picture is about as easy as it gets, even with a gloved hand and the results are quite impressive for what the camera is. It's weather protection and ability to absorb knocks is also very useful in these circumstances. Battery life is quite good but removing the SD card is fairly fiddley to say the least. I wouldn't want to try with cold, numb hands. The Camera is no lightweight, but that is a benifit in these circumstances as it is easier to oriantate with gloved hands. Provided it is waterproof to the depth claimed then you wont go far wrong with this. A camera that I would imagine all of the family could use with ease. Because I bought it knowing what to expect, it has met those expectations and for that reason I would not knock it back on any points.
Excellent, excellent, excellent! August 27, 2007 Simon Long (UK) 23 out of 24 found this review helpful
I must say I am really impressed with this camera, I bought it purely for underwater and beach use but I found I was so happy with the results I hardly used my SLR. I spent 2 weeks on sandy beaches with the camera in the pocket of my swim shorts, the handy clip secured to my shorts ensuring the camera was not lost while jumping, diving playing and sunbathing. It is a perfect size for holding underwater, any smaller and it would be unusable. It is a little bigger than a disposable 35mm but not large. It is heavy for a camera this size but reassuringly solid with its rubber moulded case. No it doesn't have a lens cap, but like I said mine spent 2 weeks rolling and being buried in sandy beaches with no scratches (on the lens at least). If it gets buried in the sand, rinse it in the sea and it's ready to use again. You may have to wipe off suntan oil which produces cloudy pictures though. Suntan oil also removes logos from front of camera as I have found out! It has a perfectly adequate 6 million pixels that have produced some great results. The video clips are near VHS quality when played back on TV and and to my surprise the camera does have an internal microphone so videos have sound which makes for great entertainment in your underwater adventures. Only complaint with videos out of water is they can sometimes be overexposed in really bright sunlight, and the sound a bit muffled due to the water proof case. No view finder makes things a little difficult underwater in bright light, no problems frameing a shot on dry land though with the good quality, bright, recessed display. My conclusion, in the water the performance is excellent, out of the water the great quality images have exceeded my expectations for a fixed lens camera. Highly Recommended!

Just come back from egypt and I'm really impressed. First time I've been diving and I've now got some great shots to remember it by. Performed well on dry land too and although it's double AA's they lasted ages. Well done to vivitar!!!
Fantastic and it bounces! August 31, 2007 Eliseus (South Wales, UK) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I bought this camera in March after waiting for 3 months for it's release here in the UK! I bought it to take to Florida over the Easter holidays nad it was a fantastic choice. I got amazing photos wherever I went, better than photos taken on bigger brand camera's. I didn't get to use it underwater, but it took the most amazing shot as I got soaked by a Killer Whale at Seaworld! This Camera took a beating from me & my family...all 12 of us! It was dropped several times but due to it's rugged caseing it just has a scuff mark and works perfectly. Many People thought it was cool due to it's colour and one Disney employee thought it was the coolest camera he'd been asked to take someone's photo with! This is definately worth buying if you want a waterproof camera,or just a durable family & kid proof camera. It's easy to use and gives amazing photos.
Great under water camera for scuba diving April 18, 2008 Mr. R. Verbaten (UK) 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
Took this great camera with me on several trips now to Egypt and Bonaire and although it is rated for use to a maximum depth of 10 meters is has been deeper with me without any problems. Battery life may vary but it is easy to use and has a clear display. Fits easily in the pocket of your BCD. Clip it to a D-ring because it will sink if you let it go. Overall good quality pics both above and under water. Love it and if I would lose it I would order another one before my next trip !
