Quality - You get what you pay for September 19, 2008 Mr. S. J. Morawiec (Dorset) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
OK, why the five stars? No graphic display, limited functionality when compared to more larger, more expensive items, but let's take a closer look. Having owned a number of MP3 players, including the oft maligned ipod 80gb, this gadget is really very smart. It is exactly what it was meant to be and for a little over 40.00 represents excellent value over its competitors. Apple have got the right idea, storing over 500 songs, it is small enough to clip on a t-shirt, but stores sufficient music or podcasts for me to travel to New York and back and still barely scratch the surface of what I had stored on it. What else is small? Well not the battery life, that's for sure and whilst the headphones are poor, it was not so long ago that I paid this amount for a player which was powered by an A3 alkaline, with earphones that were so poor they defied belief. In regards to the lack of graphic display. Let's get real, whilst I have loaded this up to the brim, for a fifty something, I find that 10 albums is enough and them change the playlist. But for a budget conscious young (or not so young) person, this item represents good value if you fill it up to the brim. Get one.
Want the latest MP3 Player? Get it for under 5 pounds December 2, 2008 Claudia 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Christmas is coming so save your cash! Why purchase something you can get for free or under 5 pounds. Go to YourIpod.co.cc and sign up. Complete ONE offer - I would recommend Gala Bingo (you know, the one Sharon Osborne advertises for on tv),as this is cheap and fun (and you might win some money in the process!) If you really don't want to spend, there is a free Lovefilm trial. All companies are well known so there is no risk involved- give it a go! I got my iPod and many other things this way, so don't miss out. I was a sceptic once but now I am SO glad I gave it a chance. B8C approved this system on their Newsnight programme a while back. Many items to choose from and they send your gift Free of charge.
Excellent March 30, 2008 Dave (Portsmouth, England) 48 out of 48 found this review helpful
I bought this to replace a Creative Zen Nano 1GB MP3 Player (which has developed an annoying habit of switching itself off for no reason). The sound quality is not quite as good as the Creative (which has a built in graphic equalizer function for listening to different styles) but having said that it is excellent for such a tiny compact, convenient device. The clip is extremely useful to me as I listen to music while working out in the gym and it clips easily onto shirt/shorts. The reason I don't give it 5 stars is that the headphones supplied by Apple are awful - they blast out at high volume but it's like listening through wet cotton wool. I use a pair of Sennheiser CX300 Ear Canal phones which are immensely superior to the Apple ones. They take a bit of fiddling with to get the right size and then to form a seal around the ear canal but once they're in they sound great with the ipod shuffle.
Great Gadget July 2, 2008 Duncan McDonald (Dundee) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
This is my first Pod. Its a fantastic little gadget. I use it walking to and from work and at lunchtime. Its extremely light and clips onto a shirt, tie, belt or jacket. Its easy to use and you get a good 12 hours from a very quick charge up [2-3 hours]. Quality is good and better than some MP3's i've tried and I like the headphones. They are comfortable and good enough quality. Maybe a bit light on the bass. The only criticism is the fact that you can't select the music you want to listen to and after a while its something I miss. You can listen to whats installed in order or shuffled up. My advice is to fill it up with music at the start. I only gave it 4 stars because of its limitations. I now realise I should have got a Nano. This is however perfect for the gym or jogging.
Shuffle it up! October 18, 2008 Hector Bruce (South Devon, England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I got given one of these (the blue 2Gb one to be precise) completely out of the blue. I didn't ask for one and would not have planned to buy one out of choice, but I thought i's give it a spin, how fun it is! I've got over 37Gb of music on iTunes, and currently have a 1st gen Ipod touch, but seeing as it was free, it'd be a nice addition to the collection. Plugged it in, set it up, hit autofill, done! Its that easy, as I like all typs of music, I don't mind what's being thrown on, and its so so tiny! Its ideal for me to walk to lectures with as its only about 15mins, and its small enough to easily fit in my pocket. Soundwise I can't see much of a difference to my iPod touch, only thing is it doesn't deliver as much bass, apart from that I find it fine. Ok, it doesn't have a screen, but its purely for music, and if you like listening to particular songs or albums, this might not be for you (however, I just put the songs I really like at the top of the playlist, flick it to un-shuffle and hit play 3 times, sorted!) Now i'm just finding how creative I can get at clipping it on me!
