The good and the bad July 25, 2008 Jone (UK) 16 out of 19 found this review helpful
I purchased this because I have been looking for a way to integrate my iPhone into my car without the dreaded "airplane mode" message coming up. In that regard, this product works perfectly. First- the product itself is well designed and very sturdy. The neck of the "dock" is very study and although it is flexible, it does not move all that much. I drive an SUV and this neck stands up to the bumps and bounces that come with driving an SUV. HOWEVER - the unit DOES NOT allow for rotation of the iPhone. I was really hoping that this unit would rotate 90 degrees so I could switch to coverflow when I was using the iPod portion of the iPhone. It DOES NOT. It only stays at a perfectly straight up-and-down (portrait style). You can still access all the iPhone functions - but, if you ever want to switch to coverflow, or if you want to watch a YouTube video while you're stopped or something, you're out of luck with this product. As far as an FM transmitter, I have found that the unit works very well. It puts out a strong signal, and does a good job of broadcasting a good signal. I would say that the sound quality is the same as it would be if I was listening to an FM Stereo station. It didn't sound like "CD Quality" but for an FM Transmitter I thought it did a very nice job.
High Quality and Easy to Use August 21, 2008 Mr. Steve (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am very happy I bought this product. I was very skeptical about purchasing one of the iPod FM Transmitters but this slick piece of hardware is well worth it. It was very easy to setup and get working. I don't have any issues driving to and from work (60 minutes 1 way) with static from nearby station frequencies. The holder for the iPod and the connector into the jack are sturdy and won't come free easily which is nice
BEST FM TRANSMITTER I HAVE EVER OWNED August 2, 2008 Linda (UK) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I don't usually write reviews, but I was so pleased with this product that I had to do it. I have owned several FM transmitters (Griffin, Belkin) and always found them to be very annoying with having to change channels constantly. With this one I drove all the way across Manchester and never changed the channel once. Moreover, the holder is very handy and adjusts to many different sized ipods. I have a Touch, I didn't try it on other kinds. Great product!
Does exactly what it says on the tin! October 14, 2008 Jon Molyneux-bracchi (Devon, UK) This product does exactly what it says on the tin! Despite it's suprisingly modest price, it performs extremely well in all aspects. I purchased this unit over 4 weeks ago and have had it in daily use with my iphone 3G in my 4x4 every day. The unit provides a sturdy and sensible height hands free cradle, whilst enabling you to either listen to your iphone's itunes or to receive/make calls completely hands free, using your existing in-car stereo speakers. The unit even lowers the volume automatically when you are listening to itunes on the iphone when you either make or receive an incoming call. In summary, I have found this unit extremely good value for money and the only tip I would pass on when using it is to ensure that your iphone volume is set to the max before you plug it into the device-that way the output signal is maximised into your car stereo, which avoids any distortion when adjusting the car stereo for volume on playback or 'phone calls. With regards to the 'beeping' reported by some other reviewers, this is simply the digital phone signal from your device 'cross talking' into the car stereo when in close proximity-I found that by simply moving the unit a couple of centimeteres either way by bending the adjustable stalk slightly cured this problem straight away. All in all - an excellent product!
The good bits and the bad? August 7, 2008 P. Walker (Newcastle upon Tyne, UK) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Bought this for my new 3G iPhone and mentioned it to a friend who has a first gen iPhone so got him one too. Both phones work with this no problems. So down to the review - Good points: You will be amazed at how good this is especially for the money! For the price it is worth it just to have something that will charge your phone in the car and hold your phone, but this does way more! The handsfree part is just that - If you are listening to music through your car speakers using the FM transmitter and a call comes in it will fade the music and let you answer handsfree just like a kit that would normally cost 5 times this amount! Build quality is pretty good and it does what it says on the pack. Bad points: not many! The little plastic holders that stop the phone sliding off the holder seem a bit fragile. The unit emits the odd beeping sound now and then when listening to music? Sound quality is average. The flexible neck works well in some cars and not so good in others - lucky dip I'm afraid! Overall worth a gamble at this price!
