As someone who makes money from photographs I was a little apprehensive about purchasing this camera. Why?
Firstly it was under [..] and secondly I had never owned a Fuji camera.
My reason for purchasing this camera was a need for something a little more light weight than an SLR but with all the benefits and let me tell you this camera delivers.
With a 1GB memory card and Uniross 2700 batteries this camera will last two to three days before the dreaded red battery symbol shows and even when the rechargables are all flat this camera will use standard batteries as well.
The Zoom is top notch and silent, I photograph a lot of wildlife and the functions of this camera does not send them running. Additional to this is the ability to turn off all those irritating digital sounds these cameras emit.
The auto mode is superb as well as the many other features, but most impressive is the anti shake feature.
Where this camera earns its five stars to, is for it's ability to place the digital screen in the eye aperture, so for all you old time photographers who prefer to use the camera in the classic way instead of at arms length, this is a real plus.
The flash is brilliant and picture quality superb.
If you are beginning in digital photography and don't have a large budget to spend this is the camera for you.

I am really impressed with this camera, the image quality is really superb. I have used SLRs for years but like the extra features a digital camera affords, this does that in spades. I will not be going back to film and my Pentax. I have a 1 gig XD card which gives 412 images at the best quality and high capacity rechargable NiMah batteries which I think are a must. The automatic modes are very good but the camera allows you to take over when you want and will even bracket 3 shots with over and under exposure at the same time. well done Fuji, a really excellent package!

This is an excellent camera, I used to have a point and shoot type, then I came accross the Fuji S5600,it's a step between a point and shoot and a full SLR. It looks and feels like an SLR,and has manual setting if you want to learn, also full auto if you just want to take pictures without the fuss I use mine in the program mode and manual mode. I can't fault this camera, I have mine set at 5 million F, setting, I think the F means fine. The pictures I've taken so far have all been of excellent quality, many thought I was using an SLR. I also have had many pictures printed by our local evening paper, so they must be pleasing to their critical eye.
Do play with the manual setting , I promise you won't be dissapointed.
For me nothing comes close to this camera, and for the price, I think they must have made a mistake.

I am getting more and more interested in taking photos so thought i would look for a camera that was just a bit more than a point and shoot but not a silly priced SLR. My budget was [...] max and i came across this camera and have to say it has lived upto its reviews..
I think its amazing for the price. I took it to Italy recently and was able to capture some great shots just using the AUTO setting. Not the best on close up shots but the zoom is really good for capturing landscapes. Ive always had sony cameras before and now just amazed at how much better my indoor shots and night shots are compared to the Sonys.
Seriously the only isses i have with this camera are the Battery life (Im keeping eveready going, buy a charger !!!) and my shaking hand causing blurred shots... If you want SLR quality, buy and SLR if you want to start to explore your interest in photography a little further than usual then pick this or one of its brothers !!
