| Customer Reviews:
Not enough functionality January 4, 2007 Mr. T. P. Oconnor (UK) 53 out of 53 found this review helpful
Just purchased this for my Mum who's 80, and a Parkinson's sufferer. The feature which attracted me was the AMPLIFICATION. Out of the box, first impressions are "this is huge"! It's almost twice the size of a normal phone. But then it is called "Big"! Buttons are what it says on the tin - big too! Now to the amplification. You have ability to set INcoming and OUTgoing amplification via a binary switch on the BASE of the unit. I immediately set it to IN and then increased volume to highest via front volume+/- switch. Then I flipped to OUTgoing and did the same. Now wouldn't you expect those setting to remain in place so my Mum would have to change them? Well they don't. You can only set one at a time and they revert to default of lowest volume setting at end of call! So, whilst my Mum can increase amplitute of her voice with relative ease, if she wants to inc amplitute of incoming caller, she needs to flip over this brick sized phone, flip a small switch, turn phone back and inc volume! Ridiculous. Aside from that, I can't fault the phone. So would have been 5 stars if the amplification had been more functional.
