Philips VOIP3211 Skype & Cordless Landline Phone November 14, 2007 N. P. Smith (Hinckley, Leics, UK) 27 out of 28 found this review helpful
If you are looking for a cordless phone for your home that combines the luxury of sitting at the end of the garden either making a call to your friends and family on the normal landline and, even better, speaking to family and friends overseas via Skype then this is the package for you. . . MY folks live abroad and combines with this phone and Skype it has brought us closer together. The phone comes with the long life lithium ion rechargeable battery pack so it can recharge when not in use and has a really good battery life. I have used the phone on a 2 hour conversation before and it has still had 3 out of 3 battery icons on the screen. The talk quality is excellent and despite other reviews I feel that the loudspeaker is ample for its purpose. I have a 3 year old and it works fine. Once connected, which is a simple task, you can walk away from your PC and browse your friends on Skype and simply call them at the end of the garden from Skype. I have not used any other cordless Skype Phone solutions other than this one but have not felt the need to. I have had this phone for 18 months now and it has been problem free. I would recommend that it is used with Windows XP. I have found, with Windows VISTA that Skype does tend to hang and not make the call when it should do. With Windows XP It is plain sailing. I would also recommend the two phone package as One phone downstairs and One phone upstairs is always good. I always leave the phone in the cradle to keep charged up however it is amazing how many times you have to run up stairs to answer the phone. I brought the single phone packageand wished I had brought the second phone. Who knows what Santa will bring me for Christmas. If you decide to buy this phone to use with Skype, you will not be disappointed. Regards Nick Smith
Great phone October 31, 2008 Kevin Robertson (United Kingdom) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have only had this phone for a couple of days and originally found it was not working correctly when running Vista. However a quick visit to the Philips web site and a download of the latest software soon solved the problems. About to purchase a second handset for my daughter and am recommending it to everyone I know.
A simple idea - a great phone: Talk for free in comfort! December 8, 2006 Christos Christopoulos 55 out of 55 found this review helpful
A simple idea - a great phone! Talk for free in comfort! I always liked Skype but I didn't really fancy using the headset and standing in front of the computer while making a phone call - my previous DECT phones had spoiled me :). Ideally I would be able to use Skype with a wireless phone, or better, to use my wireless phone with Skype instead of the BT line... This Skype phone is a very simple, but great idea that works perfectly! I use it with the latest version of Skype and it really does more that I would had asked. Its also one the sexiest looking phones I've seen around. Only negative thing I see is the non-colour screen, but I can live with that. :) Overall, I could say that I am very happy with this phone and I would recommend it to anybody who has broadband and friends!
Great phone. Very happy November 12, 2007 Rene Kaute 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
I bought this phone cheap for 30. It was very simple to install. Worked first time. Works fine for landline phone calls. Works fine for Skype calls. Have contact details for Skype friends and landline calls on the phone. Quality of both landline calls and Skype calls fine. No negatives to mention. The only reason it doesn't get a 5 star rating is because you have to have your computer switched on and logged in to use. But I knew that before and have my computer on all the time anyway. I would recommend this phone to anyone.
So versatile January 14, 2007 M. C. Peters (Harrogate, UK) 16 out of 17 found this review helpful
Great phone, easy to setup and intuative to use. Skype is not only good for free skype to skype calls but also for cheap skype to landline calls using skypeout. This phone seamlessly allows for all three: landline, skype and skypeout calls. I highly recommend this phone as the future in telephony.
