Acquired my flip camcorder a couple of days ago - and I LOVE it. Simple and easy to use [I was filming within 2 minutes of taking it out of the box and installing the batteries], it does exactly what the product description/specification says it will do. I messed up setting the time and date when I first switched it on so emailed support for help and received a reply within 24 hours [on a Sunday] providing the correct solution. Definitely 5 stars!!

Update to review: No problems installing the software on a Mac [fully Leopard compatible - OS X 10.5.3]. Easy to follow instructions to save, share, edit videos, make movies etc. - have saved, edited and shared videos via private email and as attachments to email messages without a hitch. All seems to work flawlessly on the Mac.

It's tiny, sturdy, ultra-portable - you can stick it in your handbag or pocket - and absolutely idiot-proof to use. I love that you don't need any other bits of stuff - no wires, no cables, no chargers, no nothing. Takes great movies, or at least great enough movies for most home users' needs. I love mine and use it every day, as opposed to bringing out its complicated, fiddly predecessor once in a blue moon. NB if you use a Mac and want to edit your films in iMovie08, you'll need QuickTime Pro. If you're happy to edit using the Flip's inbuilt software, you're ready to go straight out of the box.

The Flip is simple. It is the fact that it is so simple to use and operate that makes it so charming. Point and shoot Web quality videos within 4 seconds of pulling it out of your pocket. It is light weight and can be carried with you in a pocket wherever you go. The 'flip' usb mechanism is sturdy and means that there are no wires to carry around when connecting to your own, or someones elses laptop or desktop PC or Mac. Sound quality is excellent and the camera auto balances light as you shoot dependent on light quality. Great for vlogging with (Video Blogging).

I BOUGHT A FLIP ULTRA CAMCORDER AFTER SEEING AND HEARING ABOUT IT ON THE INTERNET AND WAS THRILLED TO FIND OUT ITS EVERY BIT AS GOOD AS WHAT THE REVIEWERS HAVE BEEN SAYING. THE FLIP CAMCORDER HAS BEEN AN ENORMOUS HIT IN THE STATES AND NOW WE HAVE IT HEAR IN THE UK.

IT RUNS OFF 2 ORDINARY AA BATTERIES WHICH IS A MAJOR PLUS FOR EVERYONE BECAUSE IT MEANS YOU WILL NEVER BE WITHOUT POWER WHEN YOU NEED IT . BATTERY LIFE IS BETWEEN 2-6 HOURS DEPENDING ON TYPE OF BATTERIES USED.
YOU CAN ALSO USE RECHARGEABLE AA BATTERIES.
THE FLIPS 2GB BUILT IN MEMORY IS ENOUGH TO RECORD FOR 1 HOUR SO YOUR UNLIKELY TO RUN OUT OF RECORDING SPACE AND IF YOU DO JUST CONNECT IT TO A PC OR MAC AND UPLOAD YOU RECORDINGS TO CLEAR THE FLIPS MEMORY AND START AGAIN . (SIMPLE)

LOW LIGHT RECORDING IS THE BEST I HAVE SEEN ON A CAMCORDER AND THAT INCLUDES DEVICES COSTING MUCH MORE THAN THIS AND FOR SUCH A TINY BUILT IN MIC IT RECORDS SOUNDS FANTASTICALLY WELL.
I COULD GO ON FOR AGES SINGING THE PRAISES OF THIS UNIT BUT I THINK YOU GET THE IDEA. (IT ROCKS !!)
PS- IF YOUR LIKE ME AND HATE WIPING FINGER MARKS AND SMUDGES OFF DEVICES THEN GET THE BLACK MODEL AS IT HAS A RUBBERIZED COATING WHICH RESISTS MARKS,SMUDGES ETC VERY VERY WELL.
TOTALLY RECOMMENDED ! LOVE IT!

Bought one of these for most of the kids, THEY LOVE THEM!! All their friends love them. Easy to use plug and play, straight into the facebook, youtube etc. even the non techies amongst us have no problems. Top pick for birthdays christmas etc.
