Nuvi 760 replaces Road Angel 6000 June 2, 2008 Keith Chessell 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
The road angel got in to the habit of loosing its way, the second unit I had because the first failed within warrenty. This Nuvi is just fantastic in comparison, gets a fix in a few seconds and the traffic updates really work well to replan the route. I have done Portsmouth to Amersham return 10 times now and its taken me on 4 different routes based on traffic information. Scooting off the M25 earlier than the A3 junction because of delays takes me down m3 then sometimes the A32, delays confirmed by radio 2. Its mapping and use is better than Tom Toms, bluetooth hands free works almost instantly with my E90. Even sorts out the route the ferry should take to the Isle of Wight. Absoloutly the best sat nav I have seen to date.
Great piece of kit May 8, 2008 Si (UK) 22 out of 24 found this review helpful
I have to agree that this is a superb SAT NAV for the price. Despite the earlier negative reviews I still went ahead and bought one and I'm very glad I did. I had previously had a PDA based SAT NAV and this was Ok but far too many wires and too fiddly to operate. The Garmin unit is much sleeker and with just one power cable it really is unobtrusive. The FM traffic receiver ariel works fine just laid on the top of the dash board, no need to use the suckers to attach it to the windscreen. All the features work well. The map is clear and accurate and you can easily switch between 3D and 2D view, the latter having all of the POI on it. It paired easily with my phone and also transmits perfectly well to the car radio, once I had figured out how to stop the car radio searching off the frequency (turn the TP button off!) The traffic works well when you get coverage. Today as I was leaving Manchester it warned me of a hold up on my route on the M6 near Birmingham some 80 miles south. The trip computer shows how many miles you've done and how many to go plus maximum speed and other information. Favourite destinations are easy to store and rename if necessary and you can plan and save a number of favourite routes by using waypoints. Putting an SD card in the slot gives you loads of space to upload your favourite MP3 tracks and these play back fine through the FM transmitter with the volume lowering for the traffic announcements. Linked up to the PC it did a software update without any problems. Definitely well worth the money.
