Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
The repetitive rhymes and action-packed illustrations in the delightful Peepo! have made this stunning book a favourite for small children and their parents for many years.

This glossy, indestructible board book edition captures the essence of the original and takes even the smallest of children on a peek-a-boo journey through a day in the life of a baby and is ideal for teaching tiny children the joys of handling and sharing books. (Ages 9 months to 2 years) --Susan Harrison

5 out of 5 stars Suitable from about 14 months   October 19, 2005

I bought this book for my book loving baby when she was 7 months. She showed no interest in it, in fact pushed it away. She is now 16 months and it is her favourite book. She sits still while I read it and will repeat words she recognises like "ball", "teddy", "peepo". She loves the pictures. It is a super soothing book to read at bed time too!

5 out of 5 stars Fabulous!   February 16, 2006

Children of all ages will love this book(Both mine did from babies). It is definitely preschool but with its fabulous illustrations and rhyming text this is a really incredible book for children. They gain so much from it, it is incredible to watch. They will interact with you, they learn to read and my four year old has actually started asking when it was set and asking about "the olden days".
If this is not already in your children's collection then buy it(you might need a spare as they really will read it to death!)

5 out of 5 stars An enduring and faithful friend   February 14, 2000

This book rapidly became my son's favourite at twelve months and remains so eighteen months later. In fact we are on our second copy as the first became too dog-eared with use and too mucky as my son insists on kissing the baby in the story goodnight! The coherent storybook is beautifully illustrated with the added bonus of activity and fun with "peepo". The Ahlbergs have an exceptional talent for finding the right level to pitch a story whilst still providing lots of interest for the child with the text and lots of scope for development through the complexity of the pictures. My only problem has been explaining some of the dated (its set in the 1940s) terms such as "hairnet" and "bucket full of coal"! If your child likes this format you should also try "Each Peach Pear Plum" from the same author and illustrator.

5 out of 5 stars Delightful book designed just for babies (and parents too)   January 2, 2001

This book is beautifully illustrated and my 7 month old daughter gets so excited when I announce PEEPO, that she nearly leaps onto the book to join in the fun on each page in the storybook. She delights in placing her finger into the hole in the page to point at the next picture. This book is truly a pleasure for both the parent to read and the child to listen to, as is "Each Peach Pear Plum" by the same author, and both take pride of place on the bookshelf. They will both be treasured for years to come.

5 out of 5 stars My favourite book   October 6, 2005

This was my favourite book when I was a child. I am now training to be a teacher and I would use this book with children in the literacy hour as they can begin to recognise the layers of the story. This book is not just for toddlers but for all ages!
