An essential companion to learning fundamental pharmacology. November 18, 2001 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
A very helpful material to have on top of lecture notes. Though lacking details at places, it is sufficient for those seeking basic, factual knowledge rather than research. The double-page spreads are very easy to interpret and information is condensed. This book will be useful for all studying this subject, especially for those 1st or 2nd year medics panicking about what appears to be a daunting subject.
The book that saved my life! March 7, 2003 Christina Wilson 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
When you have one semester to cover a pharmacology module, the lecturers throw out all these names of molecules involved in the autonomic nervous system...That's all fine, but when it comes to the exam, you REALLY need to know what's what...if you've forgotten all your Physiology principles, it doesn't help too much! This book is PERFECT. Keeping everything neat and succinct, every topic is summarised with accurate, crisp schematic diagrams at the start of each chapter( which rarely extends beyond three pages anyhow ), covering the basics of most topics within this subject that you would need. It is THE ultimate revision crammer aid, thin and compact, so you can take it anywhere without weighing yourself down. Buy it now.....you won't regret it!
An excellent book for revision or topic summarys September 1, 2000 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
An excellent revision book, very informative, contains all the important points and misses out the scientific jargon. Easy to undertand and learn from. Would reccomend to any pharmacology or medical student, as well as anybody else with a need to know about pharmacology. Even with an main stream textbook, this is an essensial.
Worth its weight in gold! June 7, 2003 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
If there ever was a book to simplifying a subject matter in a succint manner yet conveying all the necessary detail requried for understanding pharmacology, this attempt by Neal is definitely one fine example!Taking the basic principles underlying drug action, Neal takes readers through a double page layout style covering each pertinent topic and drug class, outlining in a clear and easily readible manner the key details. This is backed up with equally informative diagrams. Thus this book is well recommended as a first point of a call when studying a drug or an ideal revision tool before exams.
It's great- whatever level you're at May 19, 2000 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I'm a pharmacy student, and even though the course goes into more detail than this book, this is essential for understanding the basics, and includes diagrams that you will be able to remember in exams. You may think that the price is a bit steep, considering it isn't that big, but I've bought other much more advanced texts (and a lot more expensive), but this is still the one I come back to every time. If you have to buy one book, let it be this one.
