Respectful and Realistic October 13, 2002 101 out of 101 found this review helpful
We loved that this book depicted relationships in a respectful and realistic manner. The older boy helps out Mum and Dad, plays alone with baby, has time playing quietly by himself and at the end of the day when baby is in bed, has some quality time alone with Mum and Dad reading a book. We also liked how Dad is actively involved eg he cooks dinner while Mum nurses baby.Although it had no words, our 1.5 year old twins loved pointing out and naming objects that they knew and of telling us what was happening. For example: "poo" (baby getting nappy/diaper changed) "wah, wah" (baby crying) "shh" (baby sleeping) We got a number of new baby books, some good some not. This is one that we'd recommend.
We love these book! February 23, 2005 34 out of 34 found this review helpful
I bought several books to help introduce my daughter to the idea of a new baby. This and "waiting for baby" is our favorite! there are no words, so you can make your own story and adpt to your particular sittuation. But the drawings are great, and very self-explanatory! We highly recommend it!
A great way to discuss a new arrival January 4, 2006 Mrs. S. J. Suddick 23 out of 23 found this review helpful
I found the lovely pictures in this book great, I sat down with my three year old and through the pictures we were able to discuss what would happen once his baby brother was born. A great way to prepare young children for a new baby. My 3 yr old loved it so much he'd look at the book in bed and fall asleep with his head in the book :)
A must buy for second time mums! August 17, 2006 Mrs. A. M. Berkshire (Northampton UK) 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
I thought this book was fab. I loved the idea that it has no words but very detailed pictures. You can chose to discuss what you like with your child. Its great to see mum breast-feeding the newborn. A really good buy and very tastefully done.
perfect! June 22, 2002 T. Morter (Essex, UK) 54 out of 57 found this review helpful
This book and the prequel "waiting for baby" are just right! It's good that the sex of the baby is ambiguous as I don't know what my new baby will be. My son has just turned 3 and I am due in 6 weeks. He understood what the scan was for as he saw one in the prequel book and he understands everything so far. That babies cry, wear nappies and best of all, that you breastfeed babies! More books should show that so soceity becomes more accepting! There are no words so it's a great interactive book so you can ask your little one what he/she thinks is happening. The only downside is if you have a daughter already as the sibling is a boy! The best thing is that the dad does lots around the house!! The mum is regularly seen with a cup of tea sitting down while dad does the dinner, as it should be!!
