Instant Appeal February 18, 2004 Roger Marsh (UK) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This is a guidebook to multisensory teaching and if I were a teacher starting out on my career today and not someone who is about to retire from the profession, it would have have made a tremendous difference to my teaching methods for the benefit not just of the many dyslexic students whom I have taught, but of the non dyslexics too.The wonderful thing about the book is that it is full of practical and photocopiable suggestions. No wonder my copy was instantly snapped up by our special needs teacher for her immediate use!
Practical help for teachers February 9, 2004 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Teaching methodology today is still based on one sense at a time, either seeing (reading) or hearing. This book advocates a multisensory approach which clearly is necessary for dyslexics, but would also make things much more interesting for non-dyslexics. Above all it is a practical book, with aids to teaching which can be photocopied. How refreshing not to have extrapolate from all that academic theory!
At last the book we have all been waiting for! February 9, 2004 Giles Andrews (London) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
At last a practical guide on how to teach dyslexic children! So good it was worth waiting for.
At Last ! A Really Useful Dyslexia Book January 26, 2004 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is the book I have been waiting for!! It is very practical - has clearly been written by teachers - and has suggestions in it for teaching and learning which are completely relevant to what my children are doing in school at the moment. The examples in it are excellent and the worksheets are really useful.
the best October 25, 2007 Bright Light (greece) An excellent, useful, practical and informative book. I have read many books on dyslexia but this one of the most practical and applicable to the classroom and private tutoring. I highly recommend it for all students not just those with dyslexia.
