Oh just buy it July 31, 2005 Rudy Manchego (The Jungle Room) 23 out of 25 found this review helpful
If you are the sort of faintly unhinged and nonsensical person who likes their comedy equally unhinged and nonsensical, a la Reeves and Mortimer, buy this now, but don't expect to get your life back. You'll wander around, muttering about the Spirit of Jazz leaping from a minim, or Uncle Pedro the fisherman who only fishes "in my miiiind", or Tommy the back-of-the-spoon pigmy. You'll answer "It is written" to everything. You'll sing about Mr Rogers the Drum 'n' Bass Cobra, or "blackbird's head on a raven's torso - can't really tell with that one, it's a subtle one". This is screamingly funny comedy. Unfortunately, it is also highly addictive, so if you are the sort of weak person who succumbs easily to obsessive, whey-faced quoting, best steer clear and go back to your humdrum existence, coward. The interview with Danny Wallace is cracking too: "That dog had the longest snout in the world. It was like a leg." "Maybe that's why he died." "Maybe he was an anteater, and we were giving him dog food when we should have been giving him ants."
Booshtastic December 4, 2006 DangermouseZilla (Doncaster, Yorkshire, UK.) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This was one of the best discoveries I ever made. I listened to this on the bus and it was like a comedy revelation! This is so fantastic that I can't stress enough how much you need to listen to this. The word Genius doesn't do it justice! 5 stars aplenty for this - the most original, laugh out loud, creative comedy of the last decade.
Boosh Boosh Stronger Than A Moose September 15, 2005 Charlotte (Newcastle, UK) 45 out of 53 found this review helpful
This is surreal British comedy at it's absolute best! Howard moon and Vince Noir are a pair of zookeepers. Howard is "a man of action" in his own words, a jazz maverick who spans the genres. He does novels, poetry, organises raffles etc. Howard on the other hand is a vain lad, who's hair is integral to the show. Though, as you can see on the CD cover, it is fantastic. The pair work in a run down zoo with only a 100 year old ape, a rock named Jesus and Tony the prawn. The zoo is run by an angry American, Bob Fossil, who basically shouts at Howard and Vince and puts bra's on monkeys. But you need to hear the CD to understand all that. The duo get into all kinds of shananagans, such as going to the Arctic, Being sentenced to death in a Jungle club and being trapped in a box by a cockney nutjob. All of which they come out of unscathed and with some hilarious outcome. The series is full of songs such about cockney hitchikers with solo polo vision and "Little Johnny Frostbite". Plus hilarious one liners which have to be heard to be belived. This CD is possibly the best thing I have heard in years, after hearing odd episodes on BBC radio during my mid teens, I'm totally hooked, The boosh Radio series is one of the best investments you can make. You can never seemingly grow tired of the boosh. Though with all said, the humour is distinctivly British, with lots of refrences to Camden, Cockneys, Twix's and an array of all things British. If you're not a fan of other Brit comedys then perhaps it might not be for you. Though that shouldn't put you off sampling a piece of this delightful taste of contemparary British comedy. though the surreality might not be to everyones taste. Fielding and Barratt make a fabulous double act, who if you allow into your life, will make it a better place. A great idea and 2 wayward genius's = The fuynniest thing to come out of England in 10 years. The radio series led to the brilliant TV series being comissioned, which see the Boosh in the zooniverse and an array of new characters, which you should also check out. Many of the gags get carried along to the screen, but a whole new dimesion is added with the addition of actually seeing vinces magnificant hair,
The absolutely MIGHTY Boosh June 25, 2005 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
I can say without hyperbole that the Mighty Boosh is best thing to be commisioned by the BBC in the last year. The dialogue between our two main heroes, Howard and Vince, brings a totally surreal approach and view of the world, within the Zooinverse! Similarities can be drawn with the Mighty Boosh and the early works of Syd Barret. The arguments between Howard and Vince about Jazz and 80's popular music are wonderfull in their delivery. Have a smoke, relax, and allow your self to be transported on a journey through time and space, to the world of the mighty boosh.
Simply the best! August 21, 2005 Adzilla (bexley, kent United Kingdom) 11 out of 15 found this review helpful
If you are of the preconception that radio comedies are just not funny, prepeare to be educated by The mighty boosh..which is easily the funniest thing you will EVER hear. It is so unlike anything before it and if you are a fan of surreal comedy (who isnt!) then it is an absolut must, plus you can never tire of it..trust me. so....buy it! you wont regret it
