Excellent self-teaching language package July 19, 2008 Araluen (UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I wanted to learn Spanish but have neither the time nor money to attend a regular course - I've downloaded these CDs onto my MP3 player and am very impressed by them. The course is broken into easy-to-digest units, and you are encouraged to learn a little, then take a break. The recordings are clear, and authentic. I felt the "teachers" were friendly and their crisp yet relaxed approach means you are interested in what you're listening to, and you don't feel lectured. It's early days but I feel my confidence with Spanish improving and I would recommend this course - and others by Collins - to anyone.
Very Impressed! June 28, 2008 Big Bertha (UK) This set of 3 CD's (and accompanying booklet) is a great way to learn the basics of a language. It's aimed at the traveller and using it you should be able to understand the basic phrases and respond well enough to be understood. The added advantage to it being an audio course is that your pronunciation should be OK too (hard to pick up from a phrase book!). There are twelve different units. Each unit is divided into two easy to follow parts. In the first part you hear the key words and phrases, you listen to and repeat them, then you hear them being used in short conversations or phrases and it's amazing how quickly you pick them up. There are tips on how to remember them and as well as the narrator saying the phrases they are also repeated by another female and a male, hearing the same phrase said by different voices really helps. You can play each track/unit as many times as you like until you feel ready to move on. The second part of each unit consists of longer conversations containing the keywords and phrases you have learned. These conversations are played, then gone through again line by line with explanations to aid understanding and tips to help your pronunciation. I've been playing these in the car going to and from work so haven't referred to the booklet much. I am absolutely amazed at how easy this method of learning a language is - just need a holiday now to try it out!
Spanish with ease! July 5, 2008 G. Cook (Essex england) I found this system easy and fun to use. Wanting to move my basic spanish from " 2 cocoa cola's please", it certainly helped me do just that. Will continue to use and in time be able to order maybe even my meal!
Easy-peasy July 7, 2008 Michael Watson (Elland, England) I've never used an audio teaching course before, so I've no way of making a comparison. I just wished it had arrived before I spent a month in Majorca recently! It would have been invaluable. As it is, now that I've returned, I find it may well be even easier to understand than before. I haven't finished the course by any means but, so far, I'm picking up the useage and pronunciation very well and my increase in vocabulary suitable for everyday use is now significantly better! And, of course, one can return time and again should one need to go over certain parts of the course - usually due to a failing memory! It's just a pity these cds don't include a large container of Med sunshine to accompany the conversation.
