Not really gothic, but good January 29, 2002

I admit freely that I bought this book for the Christine Feehan story. I think that the Melanie George story was also a nice addition, although I don't really see how time travel + dark and stormy night = gothic. That said, it is a nice intro to Melanie George, and I would consider buying novels by her in the future. The Christine Feehan story "After the Music" is also a little bit off the gothic mark. It is however very atmospheric, and makes a good story of the darker side. The use of dark and stormy does once again make an appearance, but is not relied on to produce the entire feeling of malevolence that the story achieves. The battered and tattered hero of this novella is a welcome change from the way too physically perfect heros of most romance stories. Not to say he doesn't look good, but the emphasis is deffinately place on his emotions and actions.
