A Really Original Fun Read October 30, 2008 Miss Jessica (West Midlands,England) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I really enjoyed this book. It has everything a good chick lit novel should have, a lovable heroine, a guy your desperate for her to be with and lots of funny and weepy moments. A really original fun read that will keep you up late at night turning the pages.
The kind I like May 13, 2008 Randy F. (Wragford) 19 out of 24 found this review helpful
I like two types of book: those that MOVE or those that are funny. REMEMBER ME would fall into both categories. And yes, you're going to have to suspend your disbelief for this book, but what "good" book don't you have to do that for? Kinsella knows how to weave a tale, and REMEMBER ME is no different (in quality) from her SHOPAHOLIC series. Same great stories, same great endings. The plot is far-fetched but nevertheless adorable, and the main character is pretty much like those in her other books, but aside from that this one is a tad different. We open with a young woman (Lexi) who has a dreary job and life and one day gets bonked on the head, only to wake up three years later married to a gorgeous guy and a life that anyone would kill for. So, here's the question; the part of the book that's the "hook": how did all this happen, and WHAT happened in the last three years to bring this about? Well, for that, you'll have to read the book--no spoilers here. This is an enjoyable read, along the lines of SHOPAHOLIC AND SISTER (funny and thought provoking), ME TALK PRETTY ONE DAY (outright hilarious) or BARRING SOME UNFORESEEN ACCIDENT (totally off the wall and a page turner). If you liked these books, you'll love REMEMBER ME. Okay, this may not be THE best Kinsella book, but you won't be wasting your money if you buy it. And it's not just chic-lit--guys will enjoy this also. Oh, it also has a happy ending--something you simply can't go wrong with, eh?
Sophie never disappoints December 10, 2008 Boof (United Kingdom) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am a huge fan of Sophie Kinsella - she is the only author I have ever read where I am never let down. I always look forward to her books coming out as they are guaranteed feel-good books. In this latest offering Lexi wakes up in hospital thinking that it is still 2004 and she is going out with Loser Dave, has wonky teeth, loads of friends and works in a low paid job in a carpet company. In fact it is 2007 and she is married to a gorgeous multi-millionaire, has perfect teeth, lives in a huge penthouse overlooing the Thames and has a high-flying job as a Director (oh, and she is the bitch-boss-from-hell), only Lexi can't remember a thing about it. The story follows Lexi as she tries to fit in with her new life and fill in the gaps as to how she ended up where she did (and how she managed to alienate all her friends in the process). All the ususal magic is here - young girl, a love interest (or two), nice clothes and shoes (v. important!) While I agree that nothing can beat the Shopaholic series (who could replace Becky?), this is still a great book to get lost in. Thumbs up for Ms Kinsella once again.
Amusing and entertaining... December 22, 2008 LittleReader (Leeds, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
... As always... Lexi wakes up in a hospital bed with an unfamiliar Louis Vuitton handbag and absolutely no recollection of how she got there, why she now has bright shiny teeth, glossy hair and toned calves and what her 'husband' looks like. She didn't even know she was married. Cue laughter and witty one liners as Lexi stumbles around the wilderness that is now her life trying to make sense of her new millionaire's lifestyle, complete with spacious, 'intelligent' loft apartment and high flying Director's position. And then...Meet Jon... And the fun really starts. I love SK's writing (not so hot on her last offering but we're all allowed a blip) and am guaranteed a really good read every time. This novel was no exception - I loved Lexi, the plot, the pace and the humour. Well done again SK!
