She loved him was abused and used by him, but eventually she had to escape for her life and lived a frugal existence until good came back into her life and she had some very hard decisions to make
Fantastic novel October 19, 2008 Andy Capp (Nottingham) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Fantastic novel by Josephine Cox. I could not put it down, the plot was very good and I liked the opening where the students were in their house and they heard the most beautiful voice coming from next door. From then on I liked the different settings for the book - Bedford, then Blackpool and back to Bedford again. Jo Cox is very good at descriptions such as the high speed chase on the roads with Maddy in the car. There were surprising twists and turns and I really liked the book. Congratulations to the publishers for a very fine book cover. All in all a very good book and well done Jo.
Songbird or bad Karaoke November 13, 2008 Carol Jones (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Having enjoyed several of Josephine Cox's novels in the past, I was looking forward to a good read with Songbird. I was sadly disappointed though as I found that there seemed to be some sort of contest to see how many cliches could be fitted into each and every sentence. I found this very annoying, so much so that I was unable to finish the book, something I have not done since I was a child.
