Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars a good literary overview   June 3, 2008
Jam (west sussex, uk)
This book is good as it gives a reasoned comparison between Rowling, Lewis and Tolkien. It certainly illustrated some of the important diffrences between those lierary masterpieces Lord of the Rings, Narnia and Harry Potter (not a masterpiece). Bearing in mind that the author is pro lewis-tolkien and rather anti harry potter, it does show that the aforementioned author's works are in a diffrent level to Harry Potter. It also covers other subjects such as thw rise of witchcraft orientated literature, and the growth of the fantasy genre.
Don't take everything the author says as gospel, but this book is certainly worth a read, if only for a guide.
