really original stuff May 18, 2006 Hugo Busbridge (uk) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This was an interesting cd to listen to as i heard all their albums in reverse order, as in got Takk... first then the other two, and bought this one a few days ago. It is really weird and different, particularly track one (which terrifies me!) because, particularly that track is all ambient noise and is very experimental but you can hear their emerging sounds. If you're a Sigur Ros fan then i'd definitely recommend getting it. I love it and i've only listened to it twice. Hope you found this useful
Raw sigur ros July 11, 2007 Oliver G. White (uk) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I may be sticking my neck out here but this is my favourite Sigur Ros album. The songs on the album are all good and the ambient filler tracks are all perfectly decent (i like my ambient music you see). In fact a couple of the songs on the album are really really good, stayers on my mp3 player. I would say the key word is raw. And I like raw too. I can see though that if tak is more your sort of thing then von may not be quite what you would hope for - as the general sound does seem quite different. That'd be why there are a few low scores above.
Much better than the other reviews might appear November 14, 2007 Doug Futers (Nottingham, Kingom of Mercia) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Just bought this after having had the other three albums for a number of years, and I have to say it's my favourite. Strongly reminiscent of Hawkwind & early Pink Floyd, especially Saucer Full of Secrets
Rhythm form a spoon December 2, 2004 2 out of 8 found this review helpful
most band forget you can get a rhythm form something as simple as a spoon! sigur ros dont! there usual brand of etherial chill out is turned upside down the noramly passive drums come to the fore midway throught this album make the soudn complete its good to see where they came from. an amazing album not as good as () but certainly shows a reprisentation of the great depth of teh group A must Buy!!
Some are born great, some achieve greatness March 3, 2005 C. Tamplin (United Kingdom) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought mine from Smekkleysa in Iceland originally, and it's good to have it in the UK, as of course it was only released to Iceland. It is, as Sigur Ros describe it themselves "experimental". They are not touting it as anything special; after all they consider agaetis byrjun to be "a alright start", that of course being the meaning of the title. So don't expect wonders, but worth having partly as a piece of Sigur Ros's history, and partly just as a good album.
