Editorial Reviews:

Sidney Poitier directed (sadly without much distinction) this 1980 comedy teaming Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor as New York knuckleheads who try their luck in California and are accused of robbing a bank. Most of the laughs concern their survival strategies in prison (at one point, Wilder decides to "reach out and talk" to some hulking murderer) and their plans to escape. Both performers are so brilliant in any situation that they give this film plenty of funny moments (one or two of which became instantly classic), but this is not exactly a film for the ages. --Tom Keogh

5 out of 5 stars A True Comedy Classic   October 2, 2002

This really is a fantastic film- Wilder and Pryor at the comedic best. The film is one of those rare gems which gets better every time you watch it. It's full of eminently quotable lines and is definitely one to watch wih the lads.

To say more would be pointless- you can't get a flavour of this film until you watch it. Suffice to say that this is the best film either Wilder or Pryor ever made, either together or separately.

This really is comedy at its best.

Two friends are fired from their jobs in New York and decide to travel across the country to a place with more beaches and beautiful women. On the way they take various jobs until they are framed and found guilty of a bank job.

They are then sentenced to 120 years imprisonment and the fun then starts.

Watch this film if you enjoy a good comedy, it really will make you laugh and the ending will leave you extremely satisfied.

This is one of the funniest movies ever, classic comedy with Pryor and Wilder at their best. This films is a barrel of laughs, and it contains the best dialogue ever. At this cheap price, if you have not seen it, you must buy it.

This is one of my all time favourites and is one of the biggest reasons I became a fan of Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor. They are certainly on top form. The style of humour is timeless and it's really great to sit down and watch this with my kids knowing that it's all good clean fun.
