The Prestige HD-DVD, a must have for any fan June 19, 2007 Alexander Zaloudek (Sydney, Australia) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
Finally, The Prestige comes in High Definiton for all who don't have a Region A Blu-ray player, and Warner Bros delivers a great disc. Picture: PQ is fantastic, easily up there with Nolan's other HD masterpiece Batman Begins. Really crisp/sharp picture with fine detail on every frame. Grain is next to non existant (just like Batman Begins), and is minted from the same master as the US Blu-ray version. Upon a direct comparison of the 2 formats, they are absolutley identical. 10/10 Sound: SQ is a little on the down side. Far from terrible, it only comes with a English Dolby Digital + track and is sorely missing the Dolby TrueHD we would come to expect on a Warner Bros release. Fortunatley, the DD+ track is a very nice mix, and delivers in spades (although it's a tad lower in volume much like other HD-DVD's from Warner Bros). 7.5/10 Special features wise, there's not much here, but what we have is all in HD which is a nice feature. They are exactly the same features on the Blu-ray disc. Overall, a fine disc, and one of my favourite films of 2006. A must have for any fan of the film or HiDef presentation. 9/10
