Amazon.co.uk Review Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End is a rollicking voyage in the same spirit of the two earlier Pirates films, yet far darker in spots (and nearly three hours to boot). The action, largely revolving around a pirate alliance against the ruthless East India Trading Company, doesn't disappoint, though the violence is probably too harsh for young children. Through it all, the plucky cast (Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush) are buffeted by battle, maelstroms, betrayal, treachery, a ferocious Caribbean weather goddess, and that gnarly voyage back from the world's end--but with their wit intact. As always, Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow tosses off great lines; he chastises "a woman scorned, like which hell hath no fury than!" He insults an opponent with a string of epithets, ending in "yeasty codpiece." In the previous The Curse of the Black Pearl, Sparrow was killed--sent to Davy Jones' Locker. In the opening scenes, the viewer sees that death has not been kind to Sparrow--but that's not to say he hasn't found endless ways to amuse himself, cavorting with dozens of hallucinated versions of himself on the deck of the Black Pearl. But Sparrow is needed in this world, so a daring rescue brings him back. Keith Richards' much ballyhooed appearance as Jack's dad is little more than a cameo, though he does play a wistful guitar. But the action, as always, is more than satisfying, held together by Depp, who, outsmarting the far-better-armed British yet again, causes a bewigged commander to muse: "Do you think he plans it all out, or just makes it up as he goes along?" As far as fans are concerned, it matters not. --A.T. Hurley

Worth buckling anybody's swash! July 4, 2007 Big Al (Edinburgh UK) 15 out of 24 found this review helpful
Don't be put off by Dan Steel's rant & dont be put off by the critics either! Go to this film with an open mind.Despite being almost 3 hours long it never seemed like it! With the possible exception of a rather surreal scene involving Jack and a lot of crabs, the action and set pieces were first rate - especially the battle in the Maelstrom. Keith Richards cameo was a bit over-hyped but,I just LOVED the response to Jack's question - How's Mum?. It's visual - you have to see it to appreciate it. Acting I thought was excellent - especially Geoffrey Rush, Bill Nighy and Tom Hollander ( a very nasty Lord Cutler Beckett). Further comic relief was provided by Pintel & Ragetti ( the short fat one & the tall thin one with the false eye!).Nice to see the 2 marines (Murtogg & Mullroy) survive everything & end up joining the pirates crew! There were plenty of twists & turns & I enjoyed the subtle sub-plot involving Will & his father. Add to this a vengeful Caribbean sea-goddess & it all adds up to a very satisfying package. I certainly wasn't disappointed. If you're prepared to suspend belief & enjoyed the first 2 in the series, I think you'll love this one as well.
All good things come in three's June 25, 2007 K. Whittaker (1066 Country - England) 11 out of 18 found this review helpful
It was a long wait, but it was worth waiting for. I did not made the mistake and listened to the so called Film Critics this time and boy am glad I didn't. Depp is his usual doddering self and the supporting cast is really putting out all the stops. If you want to forget your real life for a little (no-actually quite a long) while than go and let yourself be whisked away and taken on the high seas by a more than able crew.
Satisfying 'end'. August 6, 2007 Miss J (Scotland) 11 out of 18 found this review helpful
Sequels often try, and fail, to be as big as the original (Spiderman 3 being a prime example in recent memory). Not so with the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies. They literally pushed the boat out with At World's End, bringing together all the old favourites for one last Pirate adventure. And what an adventure it is! Superb action shots, quality performances from Johnny Depp, Keira Knightly et al, mixed with the heart and comical elements loved so much from the first movie, At World's End whisks you away, sailing along nicely to a satisfying conclusion.
A Great End To One Of The Greatest Trilogies August 11, 2007 Reviewer (UK, Dundee) 11 out of 18 found this review helpful
Despite the terrible reviews that some users are leaving for POTC3, I still believe that this film is brilliant and ends the trilogy in a different exciting way. The action is great, and ignoring the likes of Orlando Bloom, the acting is great too! It diverts from the usual sunny islands to new locations with Singapore and the wildness of the sea, which fits perfectly with the storyline of the threat of pirate extinction. If you want something different from the norm and liked the previous two great films this is perfect for you. If I spent money seeing it three times at the cinema - it has to be worth it.
A Great Film August 14, 2007 Alexandra (Manchester, England. We know how to rave.) 15 out of 25 found this review helpful
I have to start off with the action sequences, they were stunning and very enjoyable to watch. I occasionaly found the plot a bit difficult to follow, but to be honest, i was quite happy to just sit and watch and be swept away by it all. I feel it still retains the magic ingredients that made the first film a success, humor, stunning effects and some very lovely actors!
