Amazon.co.uk Review As light and frothy as the Vivienne Westwood wedding gown that's an unofficial fifth star, the film version of Sex and the City is both captivatingly stylish and sweetly sentimental. Viewers who loved hanging with Carrie Bradshaw and her three pals during the series' TV run will feel as though no time has passed. Except that it has: Carrie and Big are poised to make a Big Commitment; Miranda and Steve are facing the breakup of their wonderful family; Charlotte and Harry have added to their brood; and Samantha (are we sitting down?) has been devoted to hunky Smith for five full years. Still, in all that time, the women's style, conviviality, and appetite for bons mots have only grown. When practical attorney Miranda learns that Carrie is considering moving in with Big (in possibly the coolest apartment in Manhattan), she can't help but frown in that but-you-might-lose-everything way. Carrie's retort: "For once, can't you feel what I want you to feel--jealous?!" The cast is spot-on, as always. Sarah Jessica Parker is effortless as the angst-ridden yet practical, stylish yet vulnerable Carrie. Kim Cattrall is deliciously decadent as Samantha, but she's wiser now and knows herself and her needs for a real relationship. Kristin Davis, as Charlotte, has quietly become the most gorgeous among the beauties, her sleek presence both winsome and sophisticated. And Cynthia Nixon (Miranda) shows nuance as a woman torn between betrayal and grudging hope. Supporting roles include Candice Bergen as the Vogue editor who anoints Carrie "The Last Single Girl in New York," and Jennifer Hudson, as a starry-eyed, ambitious romantic who represents the new generation of SATC women. Through it all, New York is a benevolent cocoon that envelopes and nurtures the women and their friendships and careers. No matter that none of them appears to have any semblance of "real" family; as long as they have each other, and Manhattan, all will be right with their world. --A.T. Hurley

Fans - go and see it now!! No spoilers!! June 2, 2008 Katie Banton (Nottinghamshire, England) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
I absoulutely loved the film, even though i found it very emotional after going through so much with the girls already and having them back is wonderful. I have no complaints there was bearly a dry eye in the cinema and hardly a tear out of my eyes. It is very much a love story but also about great friendship which made me appreciate my own friends. Cant wait to buy it, it gave such a happy feeling. Well done guys 4a great film.

A must for SATC fans. I admit i was unsure whether it was going to be good or not. But i was amazed and completely fulfilled after watching this film! Amazing twists that I wasnt expecting and fantastic friendship! I just wish someone had warned me to take some tissues!!!!! So much emotion - happy and sad parts - EXCELLENT!

I saw this at the cinema today and dispite the rubbish reviews i read in the paper (which were written by men...hmmm) it was sooooo wonderful. it was so great seeing all the girls back together and i nearly cried about 3 times, there are many twists and turns and not at all predictable, i will be buying this the minute it comes out. Now everyone flock to your local cinema and see this film!

If you are a fan, then you will love the film. My husdand took me for our anniversary as he knows how much of a fan i am, and he is secretly too! Many men will benefit from watching the series, to know how women think, and how much friendship means to them. Anyhow the film. I watched it 4 days ago, and i am still thinking about it, and want to go back again. It has everything you can imagine, plus a lot more. Each character is tested emotionally with their fears in life. And in true style come though the other side with the help from their friends. Not to give too much away, there is a wedding, but is there a marriage? with cheating alongside and someone with the runs, you have to see this excellent film, take your tissues, some crying will be involved with plenty of laughter. Best film in ages!

What can I say only that it was so worth the wait. The girls were the same usual happy, glam girls that they always were. I loved every minute of this movie. Wish i had brought some tissues. I think all men should go and see this movie and it might give them a tiny insight to how we feel sometimes as girls. We do get a hard time you know!! But I would totally recommend this movie to anyone who wants to share in having a laugh and feel good and sad all in one go. Loved the dresses and the shoes of course. Mr Big..................What are you doing, But you did come good for all of us in the end!!!! Enjoy girls and guys. XXXXXX
