Top marks for Pinnacle Studio Ultimate12 September 30, 2008 P. Kelly (Northern Ireland) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this a few months ago and it has been fab so far not one problem to say about it ,I use the firewire port from my camcorder to my pc,it imports the video perfect no problems at all, edits it ,can add music to it,never crashes can burn it to disc or hard drive not a problem, the finish product is always 100%.I would recommended this software to anyone,I have always had pinnacle to edit my videos as I do weddings in my spare time also events,I believe pinnacle is easy to understand & easy to use,yes over the years some of the Pinnacle software has not been up to standard, but I would say the major problems for people is to use the firewire port not usb port, your computer has to be top spec for taking video footage eg: lots of memory, good graphics card like nvidia & your hard drive has to be at least 7200rpm & over 200GB for taking video footage if you have all of this you should begin making great movies
Pinnacle Studio 12 works - eventually November 17, 2008 Biggles (London) Out of the box, and installed on a top spec computer running Vista, there were some immediate problems - clips were freezing and rendering was not working well. The advice from the handbook was to check for updated drivers for everything - including a search for patches on Pinnacle's website. This was done and multi-megabyte upgrades were downloaded. Windows update did not find any new drivers for the graphics card - but on Nvidia's website there was a new driver. Pinnacle posted a patch in October - some months after I had bought my copy - so it looks like gremlins had been reported - and fixed. Since then everything has worked perfectly - HD as well! It is an easy piece of software to use and is well worth the money - but it does require top notch hardware and drivers.
Studio 12 ultimate September 3, 2008 G. Wade (England) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
After slating Studio 11, (see my review)for it's lack of AVCHD capabilities, I was impressed with the way it handled DV footage. For this reason I bought Studio 12 and the fact you get Boris Graffiti, Montage, Magic bullets, Vitascene and a green screen which all work very well with Standard DV. I have made a few interesting DV shorts, however, I decided to load some AVCHD files that were left over from using Studio 11 and to my surprise Studio 12 did quite a good job in handling them. It is still early days but I think it just might work, I am in the process of making a short High def film, so far so good. Studio 12 is well worth the money for it's DV capabilities, it is much better than Studio 11, add to this better handling of AVCHD and Pinnacle might have got it right.. My system is:- Core 2 duo 3.0 Ghz CPU 2 gb Ram Win XP Service Pack 2 SATA hard drive for operating system. SATA hard drive for video footage. 512 mb Graphics card. Gigabyte GA 35 Series MoBo.
Very good for home editing October 26, 2008 Toni Lehtimaeki (Finland) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you are looking for a cheap product for professional home editing this is your choice, for more professional I'd not recommend this. For me it does the job. Though while I gain more skills I'll move on to Sony Vegas or Final Cut. Some effects are useless because they look so crappy, but some of the color correction and other picture manipulation work really well.
