 Bon Jovi's 2nd Album --- Underated Gem! July 27, 2007

"7800 Degrees Fahrenheit" was Bon Jovi's second album released in 1985, it's a great follow up to "Bon Jovi" and is a better album in my opinion than the 1st, even though i rate that album very highly also.
Standout tracks for me are "In and Out Of Love", "Tokyo Road", "Silent Night", "Only Lonely" and "Hardest Part Is The Night" --- all awesome songs that should have made the top 10 in the singles chart, oh well they have made up in chart posistions since!
The album therfore in my opinion is great but VERY underated, if you are a fan then i do recommened it highly so please give it a go and you may be pleasantly sursprised.

This may well be the most underated album ever. I got into Bon Jovi in 2000 with the release of "Crush" and started to work my way back through the Bon Jovi timeline buying all thier stuff. My god was i surprised when i bought this album, not surprised that it was really good but surprised about how over looked it is?? This is an awsome album, heavier than the bon jovi we might hear nowadays. Its deffitnaley worth purchasing for anyone with a slight intrest in Bon Jovi, and also for you "rockers" who overlook Bon Jovi for something a bit heavier buying this may well be a plesent surprise for you!

Ask any critic, they'll tell you that 7800 Fahrenheit is Bon Jovi failing to find their feet, a stutter in their career after the promise of the debut and before the success of Slippery When Wet. But ask any fan, and they'll either say it's a vital step in the career of the group, or as some would say, it's amongst their best work.
I'm of the latter view. The production may be shabby, and this in my opinion is why so many critics fault this collection. But how anyone can deny the quality of tracks like Only Lonely, In & Out Of Love and Always Run To You is beyond me. The band is tight, the emotion intense and the melodies strong. Richie Sambora displays the sort of fluent guitar work that would become a trademark of the band's sound, and the other band members display a confidence that suggests they knew the world was theirs for the talking. It took until the following year, and the Desmond Child-assisted hits Livin' On A Prayer and You Give Love A Bad Name, before Jovi would achieve worldwide superstar status. But this excellent and highly underrated album should not be overlooked by anyone with even a slight interest in the work of the group.

Bon Jovi round two - and an album that is usually overlooked by many, despite it being a quality product.This CD showed a mature sound from the band, after their debut's pop-like feel. It is probably the bands most heavy rock album, and full of songs that have a strong guitar base to them. The album is not quite as uplifting as their later stuff, which may put people off, but the songs are a vast improvement on their debut album. Tokyo Road, for me, is the standout. Jon's lyrics are superb here, much improved from last time, stronger, more resilient and a bit lower in tone. King of the Mountain is a guilty pleasure - not particularly brilliant, but an enjoyable, indulgent song. Silent Night is also a strong track, that has a creepy opening sound, but will totally rock your socks off. This Bon Jovi album is the exception to the rest of their career. The heavy rock sound making it not only sound completely different to later albums, but almost being a one off. Don't expect the love ballads, or fast-paced stadium sound. This is a band showing they can do quality material, and therefore it deserves to be heard.

I wouldn't say Bon Jovi at their best, the albums since just get better & better ! But.... In & Out Of LOve is just one of my alltime Fav Tracks ! If you have all the others, then your collection is not complete untill you have this !
