My First Scalextric. A great toy November 17, 2008 D. Booth (Oxon, England) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
7 months ago I bought this Scalextric for my granddaughters, 4 yrs and 6 yrs old, to play with when they visit. It has been a great success. Visiting 6 to 10 year olds also loved it. None of the children have problems putting the cars on the track themselves, partly due to the magnets that help hold the cars on the track. The cars go at incredible speeds (10 laps in 12 seconds). At full throttle they will fly off, but that is all part of the skill and fun - keeping them on the track so you win! My cars were not damaged when they came off but a couple of cushions strategically placed would make sure there was no damage. I have had no problems with cars being stopped by the track. One car developed a fault and Scalextrix replaced it free of charge. At 1/64 scale it is half the size of normal Scalextric and very compact, 100cm x 50cm, and so does not eat up the space avialable. It's important to follow the instructions about set up and do not let the children hold the cars when they are powered up (in an attempt to win!). I myself have had great fun out of the set by making: two lap counters triggered by two infra red sensors under the bridge, an F1 style 5 light (LED) starter coupled to a 6 electronic stop/lap watch that times 10 or 20 lap races. All adds to the competative spirit. My 1st Scalextric Set
Great fun and great value! November 16, 2008 Camelphoot (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this for my 2 1/2 year old son for Christmas. It is very quick and easy to assemble and he soon got to grips with the controls. One year later, after lots of play... especially when friends come round, it still provides lots of entertainment. We have never had any trouble whatsoever with the cars getting stuck and I can only acertain that the reviewers that have had, either had a faulty set or didn't assemble it firmly enough.
Great for the Price! June 5, 2007 C. McLean (N. Ireland) 34 out of 34 found this review helpful
for kids this is definitely a great set, i think the reviewer below must have got a faulty set as i have never had any of these problems. it is easier to use than other scalextrics, but the bodies of the cars do come off if you crash on a hard floor they can be easily clipped back on again, its just annoying. if you have never used a scalextric before you will be amazed at how fast the cars go! other scalextric sets are hard to get for under 70 so this is great for what you get. 2 cars 2 controllers a decent sized racing track(for the size of the cars-about 3cm by 5cm) overall great fun 4 every1!
My 1st Scalextric November 15, 2007 R. Neale (UK) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
My two children loved it. My 3 year old got to grips with it very quickly and got his car going with no problem and he loved the fact that went really quickly without coming off (flat out the cars do come off but then that is how it should be!). My six year old really enjoyed it and had a lot more control. Overall this is a great little starter kit. The best thing is that it goes together in about five minutes and is resonably sturdy. The cars do sometimes get stuck on the connections but a little push later and no problem. At less than 20 this can't really be faulted.
Great for little racers December 31, 2007 Steven Fannon 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My 4 year old just had this for Christmas, and loves it. The cars go really fast without coming off, due mostly to the magnets on the bottom. Colour coding of track / car / controller makes it all easy to understand. The track quality / durability isn't up to the traditional Scalextric standard, but then this is fun and cheap. One review I read mentioned the cars getting stuck at the track joints - this only happens when you go really slow....give it some welly!!
