I purchased an Egg for my little boys room over a year ago. The product has worked for 24 hours a day, seven days a week since we plugged it in - we never touch it and it has been fine. We have had some power cuts and it just comes back on again afterwards and has been great. It looks really funky in his room and is very useful at night-time as we can just pop our head around his door and instantly check the room temperature without disturbing him. We checked the temperature against some other digital thermometers and we found that all vary by a degree or two, depending upon how they have been calibrated. We have found our Egg to be quite accurate and certainly as a quick visual temperature indicator has been very helpful.

I purchased "egg" recently, and having used it for few weeks now, I can highly reccomend it. It simple to use, and makes it very easy to see at a glance correct temperature for baby's room.
I have checked that it displays correct temperature in comparison with other digital thermometer and it's fine.
I guess some people may find a room too cold when at recommended temperature, but having very warm rooms is what we are not supposed to do in the first place.

i bought this egg before my little boy was born i have and still do use it every night, it lets you see at a glance what the room temperature is from the colour of the egg instead of having to try and read an ordinary thermometer in the dark which isn't easy i recommend this little egg to any one expecting a baby its fantastic.

I bought one of these as soon as I heard about them last year. The unit provided me with an idiot proof indication of the temp of my daughters room. Previously if my wife said that the nursery needed to be 18 deg I would have no idea, but looking at the colour of the egg made it easier for me. When I first plugged it in it was red, however I turned down the main heating thermostat and tweaked the radiator valve untill I got it right. I left it on when the boiler broke down and it dropped to blue and in the height of the heatwave last year went well into the red. Either way we made adjustments to get the room back in check. I consider it robust as I knocked it off the shelf it was on, just plugged it back in and "off it went".

We are first time parents and this is a great product. It has come in particularly useful with our seven week old daughter. The first impression when I took the Egg out of the box was how small it is. That's not to say it's fragile, far from it; the Egg is made from a mixture of soft plastics and survives the bumps, falls and knocks with ease.
The colour coded temperature guage is intuitive and instinctively easy to use, once you have at least remembered the meanings of each colour. Like one of the other contributers I am surprised how infrequent we get the room at the 'ideal' (yellow) temperature. The smiley face is a nice touch! At the very least, if the egg remains orange you know to go easy on the bedding.
Look, it's easy to go on worrying when you're a first time parent. The Egg removes some of that worry and during the night gives you an instantaneous indication of how warm the room is. My only criticism (and it's a minor one) is that the digital display could have done with a clock. Then it would have been the perfect all singing-all dancing baby gadget.
