More than a decade in the making, the world's favourite real-time strategy game is finally returning. The original is still played by millions but this sequel makes the whole experience accessible and relevant to a whole new generation of players. Once again you can choose to play as one of three races - the Terrans, Protoss and Zerg - as you're given complete control of their armies and their wildly different attack units and buildings. A new non-linear storyline featuring the human Terrans (expansion packs will cover the other two races) teaches the ropes and adds to the series' mythos with stunning new cut scenes. It is online that the game really comes alive though, with ranked matches that instantly connect y

Collectors Edition Revie July 29, 2010 Gimboid 13 out of 16 found this review helpful
I wrote a review for the game on the other listing, this specific review is about the collectors edition box sitting infront of me right now..
THE BOX
Made out of thick card, fully printed and imprinted as well (the little dots to mark rivets are indented into the box), it slides open like metal jaws, which I think are inspired from the original opening cinematic
THE GAME
Is a DVD box with a cardboard outer box, just like the standard edition, it comes with two Guest keys which allows you to let two friends try the game for free by just installing from your disk or downloading online
ART BOOK
A full hard-back colour book, beautiful detail and great print, whilst you may only look through it once or twice, it is indeed very pretty
COMIC
Must say I haven't opened the separate seal on the included comic book, but this again is fully coloured and looks great, hopefully worth its own collectors value in the future
SOUNDTRACK CD
Geektastic, all of the music from the game, not a lot more to add, comes in a standard jewel case
BEHIND THE SCENES DVD
SPOILERS! it includes most of the in-game cinematics, so will include spoilers, if you want to play through the games full campaign first, make sure to save watching this until afterwards.
MINI-THOR PET
Any World of Warcraft (Mac/PC) account on your Battle.net account will automatically have every single character you have sent this pet in the mail, it looks great but is obviously softened up a bit to fit into WoW graphics and look more like a pet, its very entertaining and has trouble sitting still.
This is not a separate key, it is part of the game CD-Key, so you can't sell this separately if you aren't a WoW player.
DOG TAGS
One of the coolest items in the box, a 2gig USB key made out of solid metal, its very nice and tidy and comes with a pre-installed Starcraft 1 + Brood War, making the whole box extra value for money.
SUMMARY
In all, I think this is a great example of a collectors edition box, personally I would have liked to see something like a figure of some sort, but with the box being slim, there wouldn't really be space.
If your a big starcraft fan, or a huge WoW fan and want the pet, I think this is highly worth it and you won't regret it.
Great Game September 9, 2010 Lord Matthew J H Barbero (Morpeth, UK) This game is just great the campaign in very well done and the cinematics take your breath away, also the online content is massive, i would recomend this to anyone ever, and with the originals in there 2 it brings me back to childhood. Simple get this game it is for lack of a better word perfect
Amazing RTS - second best ever September 6, 2010 osirisvsseth (England) I was a massive fan of the original Starcraft and Brood Wars games and have been eagerly awaiting a sequel ever since. However, in the past 10 years my taste in video games has definitely moved on. Back then I absolutely adored RTS games of all sorts; my last properly played RTS was Dawn of War. Since then, and even before (since the golden age), I have moved onto playing a lot more console games and have almost all but forgotten the RTS. Fortunately SC2 has brought it all back to me. This is a brilliant game which has a compelling storyline (although definitely not as good as the first two games) and a multiplayer as good as the first. In fact, I actually prefer playing multi this time around because the matchmaking system is second-to-none. I honestly think matchmaking on SC2 is better than any good console games, and the SC2 game interface (menu, ladders, achievements etc) are excellent. One criticism which many have directed at this game, that it is going to be released as three parts and they will be charging a premium for all three, does not bother me in the slightest. I suppose I can understand how this can be seen as unfair to the younger generation but - I imagine - the vast majority of the sales of these games will probably be coming from those who can afford it with ease. So I am very much looking forward to the next instalments to carry on the captivating storyline and further the multiplayer to even greater depths. Overall I think this is a stunning game and it plays better than any other RTS I've ever played (excluding SC1/BW of course). Blizzard have stayed true to the original and made an updated game which plays just as well as the original did, and in my opinion that was the main achievement in producing the sequel, even if it did come 10 years later; it was a wait I'm happy to have made. 10/10.
brillant simply brilliant September 3, 2010 doug this game is a ace rts game the extras you get a good as well and also the multiplayer is brill with a league tables and its got a good achivement system as well so there is loads to be getting on with this rts a must for starcraft fans and other people that love rts. It also has an indept story line that can vary depending on your actions. and the graphics and amazing if you have a good graphics card and memory for you p.c(which im guessing you will). as a whole i highly recomend this game.
