Amazon.co.uk Review In a nutshell: A next generation game of Ping Pong doesn't necessarily sound like the best use of your Xbox 360's abilities - no matter how good the graphics are. Just a few quick plays though will turn apathy into addiction. The lowdown: You might come for the budget price but you'll stay for the gameplay in what must be the most engrossing new sports game in years. Although the realism is probably going to be beside the point for most people this looks and plays exactly like the real thing. That means the controls basically work like a normal tennis sim, with four basic shot types on the face buttons and some easy to apply aftertouch available on the left stick. You can mix and match shots by holding down multiple buttons and there's a handy warning rumble when you starting getting your returns too near the edge of the table. Although the presentation is a little dry, especially for a Rockstar game, sports games don't get much more fun than this. Most exciting moment: Although it's a shame there's no doubles matches the game is still at its best online in multiplayer mode. If you don't have Xbox Live though you'll find the computer players are very realistic, with their own quirks and specialities that make them seem far more like real people. Since you ask: The game features seven extra playable characters to unlock by beating the single player tournaments. The nationalities of these players are Brazilian, Irish, German, South Korean, Japanese, English and Egyptian. The bottom line: It may sound an odd idea but this could be the most addictive game yet for the 360. Harrison Dent

Addiction! October 18, 2006 Andrew Griffiths 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Be warned this game takes about 20 minutes to pick up and thats it! You will be addicted! Me and my mate played it six hours solid on the first day! When wife got home she took a lot of convincing that we had actually left the room since she left on a shopping trip!(We did for more beer and crisps!)On a fully dolby digital system (i have 7.1) it sounds great, the graphics are excellent and the gameplay superb. i have not played it online yet....... Buy it it is a steal. Reason for being so cheap so soon...typical 360 player wants to be running around a purple coloured "off world" shooting dragons with some kind of "mega blaster" weapon! "Ping Pong" just aint cool enough!!! Their loss!!!!!
Great fun January 11, 2007 Gary Holroyd (Gateshead, England) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
At first i was a little sceptical about this, i thought that it woudl be aother boring tennis style game but i was wrong, its easy to learn yet difficult to master, it is can be very challenging but that s what makes it fun. For racing games being thrilling, this is more thrilling then any other game I've played, have a 50+ hit rally really builds up the tension. Its one of the few games around that really hurt your fingers because you get that into the game. Simply fantastic.
Amazing Game December 21, 2006 Reviewer (London) 10 out of 13 found this review helpful
This is a must have for your Xbox 360 collection. It's got it all. Great graphics, great gameplay, great controls... what more could you ask for. Overall, it's one of the best games on the 360. After Gears of War, Splinter Cell - DA, and PGR3 it has to be Rockstar's Table Tennis. Rockstar rule. How do they continually bring out great game after great game? Rockstar, I salute you.
Just brilliant May 30, 2006 Carlos (Scotland) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Even my non-gamer girlfriends likes it, good for 1 on 1 battles with eachother. I like the simplicity and the focus on the gameplay itself. I see it as in the spirit as pong.
Who'd have thought? June 6, 2006 Marc Whiffen (London, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If someone had come up to me and said that I should purchase a Table Tennis game for my Xbox 360 a few months ago I would have laughed. Memories of 'Pong' may be responsible for this hilarity but the idea of this minority sport becoming a hit computer game is, frankly, laughable. However, purchase it I did and can now say that I am a complete convert. The game is just plain outright fun and so easily accessible. The game itself is graphically beautiful with each player rendered fairly realistically and possessing their own characters, albeit in a limited repertoire of expressions, sayings and actions, but enough to make you warm to them. The controls are very easy to learn and you can be up and playing very quickly to a satisfying and exciting degree. Mastering the controls takes time with features such as 'focus' coming into their own. The timing of shots and the use of 'cut shots' on particularly well struck shots makes for an exciting game. The game comes into its own in two-player mode where you can play against your opponent live on screen. Thankfully the 'split screen' mode is avoided by having the serving player with their back to the camera and the opposing on the other side. Oddly this becomes very intuitive from either side of the table making the game fun for both players. All I can say is that within an hour of setting up and learning, the household became an uproarious place of shouts of despair, joy, frustration, laughter and good-natured rivalry. Even people who were not computer game fans gathered round to watch, cheer and groan with much sideline advice. If you want fun then this is a game to have. In fact every Xbox 360 owner should add it to their collections and just enjoy it with friends or alone. This is a game I shall be enjoying for a long time to come
