As the all-new racing experience from Codemasters Studios, creators of Colin McRae: DiRT, Race Driver: GRID is all about the race. Every moment from the adrenalin rush at the start lights to the elation at the chequered flag - the tension, pressure, noise, and action. Featuring only the most powerful race cars - current and classic, circuit and drift - players will compete to conquer the most prestigious official race tracks and championships and then go beyond to compete in challenging city-based competitions, through to road events and urban street races. With races crammed with action and incident, high-impact moments will come at you thick and fast, one right after another: engine blows, tyre blow outs, tight overtaking, accidents, opponent cars flipping, spinning, collisions with other cars and trackside objects. From humble beginnings, earning a few thousand dollars a season, build a feared and respected racing team with a multi-million dollar income and complete at dramatic race locations and dominate a multi-disciplined world of racing. In Europe, race prestige Marques, including Aston Martin, Koenigsegg and Pagani, on the greatest official race circuits. Enter street competitions and race high-performance V8 muscle cars through iconic U.S. cities including San Francisco, Washington DC and Detroit. In the Far East, Japanese racing culture sets the tone where night races, including Drift racing, take drivers through neon illuminated cities and to outlying mountain roads. As the antithesis of the box-ticking, plodding single-player race game, Race Driver: GRID delivers a diverse career mode in a persistent world of racing that provides each player with a unique experience as their team writes itself into racing folklore.

The perfect racing experience......... June 11, 2008 N. Watson 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Thats right, this is the best driving game out there. Forza 2 was good, but this game knocks it out of the park! There is a complete range of cars to drive, ranging from single seater formula 3 cars, to suped-up Mustangs and Skylines. The game works on money won by racing but most of all through reputation points. (seems to get more difficult the higher your reputation) For years I have been waiting for a racing game to be released that when you crash into the wall, YOU CRASH INTO THE WALL!!. There is no rebound with no damage to just carry on, if you hit the wall (at speed), your race is over and your car is trashed! This feature, for a slightly gung-ho racer like myself, you might say is a bit of a set-back. Cleverly codemasters have thought of this, adding in a 'flashback' mode that lets you rewind the race, until a certain point - this is normally 2-3 secs. Meaning that you can have a second go at taking that corner again, but without crashing. Brilliant! (flashbacks are an auto feature that doesn't happen every time you crash, just when you write off you car, if you use the flashback feature your reputation points will go down) Another dimension to this game is the team building side, after every race you get offered new sponsorship. This will bring in more money to your team and set up some cool graphics on the car. You have complete control over your team name/colour scheme/graphics and extra drivers. Your other driver not doing so well? sack him get a new one. It just seems that from fantastic loading screnes to the in race graphics, codemasters have thought of everything and have produced the slickest racing game ever to be released. A must have for any racing fan!
REVIEW June 5, 2008 A. Tsilogiannis (England) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
if you're going to read ONE review, read this one: I read the previous reviews, and that made me hasty to buy, alot of people were saying, the game is too hard, the AI is bad, etc Let me say alot of people are basing this on the DEMO (which i have no played), but after getting the game, it looks fantastic. If you've played DIRT you'll understand, they're 'juiced' up the graphics engine for this game. the physics are realistic, the AI drivers are very 'human' (i.e. the stop if you get infron, as opposed to bang you as if you dont exist, sometimes under pressure they'll spin out). ever car feels, sounds, drives differently... and u never get bored. from DRIFT (wiht the japanese guy in the background commenting on your performance), to Formula 3, to destruction derby, to 24hrs lemans, to GT races, PRO TUNE, american muscle etc! as you progress in your career, you can hire a driver, make more money, get sponsors. It's very well laid out, not complicated at all! and day and night graphics are immense, and the damage is unreal (well, very real in this case), and YES if u damage your car enough, it affects your performance.. i mean what would you expect? this isn't an ARCADE GAME, but it's not as hard core driving simulation as GT PROLOGUE. the inside views are superb, and need i go on? IF you liked Forza2 , Dirt, GT PROLOGUE, you'll love this, no question about it.
try looking at the options May 28, 2008 Alex Hampson (Leeds) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
i think this game is great however, after looking at the other reviews on this page it seems that many people are critisizing(sp.) the handling. now i have to admit that when i began playing i found the handling wierd. then after looking around on the options, the game comes with an oversteer option turned on and after turning this off i found the game to be superb. the graphics are superb and the quality of the racing amazing, i would definitely recomend forking out 40 and buying this. just make sure you sort out the options before playing ;)
Best racer yet May 10, 2008 Phillip Fry (burgess hill United Kingdom) 9 out of 12 found this review helpful
I have played, forza 2, PGR4 and Colin McRae diRT, and the new Race Driver game beats them all hands down. The handling is very similar to that of diRT, but is a little less forgiving, as you can spin out if you go off-road while cornering, which, in my opinion, is no bad thing. Also in race driver the damage actually affects the way your car handles. If you take too much of a battering your car will have trouble going straight, or should you knock off the rear bumper you'll have to keep the back in check to avoid spinning out. All of this is not that difficult to control, but is challenging enough to make it fun. I wiil definitely be buying this when it's released.
Prepare to enter racing heaven ! May 10, 2008 Ulster Confederate (Northern Ireland) 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
I have played Grand Turismo Prologue , Forza 2 , Project Gotham 4 And based on the Demo of Grid I can honestly say it beats every one of them hands down. The Graphics are superb and the racing is really unpredictable drivers make mistakes and crash sometimes in spectacular fashion with pieces of the cars flying all over the place. The replays are great fun to watch. The car handling is just right its somewhere between Project Gothams and Forza 2 its not Arcade but not to much of a simulation as to make it no fun after a few races I had the hang of it. Based on the demo this will be a must buy game. The Le Mans 24 hour track is in the full game. It will be driving heaven I can't wait!
