Amazon.co.uk Battle of the Bands is the ultimate music rhythm game exclusively on Wii. The story is set in a fictitious world gone mad, where bands battle for music supremacy using weaponized instruments. Featuring 30 licensed tracks from today's hottest bands that can each be played in 5 different music genres (Rock, Country, Marching Band, Hip Hop and Ranchero) with 70 special weapons and attacks. In each game, a song will be played in one genre for about 10 to 15 seconds and then another, flipping back and forth. Points are earned by beat-matching, and successive matches will automatically launch quirky weapons such as smoke bomb, land mine and flip out. The more points earned, the more the music will be played in the player's genre. The game can be played in versus mode, perfect for social and party game setting, or in adventure mode where player set out to battle bands of other genres one by

A great multiplayer game. June 11, 2008 A. Hines (UK) 20 out of 22 found this review helpful
This game is a great game to play with a friend. The controls are really intuitive, even my mum has had a go. There are levels to suit all abilities. All you need to be able to do is swing your arms from side to side and down, and give the occasional punch. When choosing who to play (which band), you get to choose between different genres of music, such as rock, hip hop, country, latin and marching band. Depending on who is doing the best in that section, the corresponding band plays. There are face off sections where you get to 'attack' your opponent, but there are also chances to attack during the beat sequences, using powerups. This game is so competitive! I have not progressed as far in the 'adventure' single player mode. As I find it much more thrilling playing against someone. The music tracks are varied, ranging from up to date AFI and Electric 6 to The Ramones. It does not matter that there are not a lot of known tracks, as AFI sounds very different with a hip-hop or country beat! A really fun, easy to pick up game. Only lacking 5 stars due to the less interesting single player mode.
