Amazon.co.uk Review In a nutshell: No hit PC game could be complete without at least one expansion pack and this one for Civilization IV is more generous than most with six new scenarios and the all important new warlord unit. The lowdown: Offering a new chance to change the course of history the Warlords expansion has six new scenarios to play through from 350 BC to the adventures of Genghis Khan in 1206 AD. The most interesting new feature though is the new great person type called the warlord, with unique personalities for each race that greatly improve the abilities of your military units. Other new features include six new civilizations, ten new civilization leaders, the ability to create vassal states and three new wonders of the world to build or capture. There are also two new leader traits for your civilisation's figurehead, new unique buildings and tons of new units, resources and improvements. Most exciting moment: Ever wondered what Churchill would do at the Battle of Troy? Now's your chance to find out as you play through battles from throughout history or just make up your own fantasy conflicts. Since you ask: Although a full list of warlord units has not yet been announced they are known to included Augustus Caesar, Ramesses III, Sir Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin. The bottom line: Civilization IV expands with more features and more historic cameos than ever. Harrison Dent

Good for the warmongers out there! August 22, 2006 King Jimbo (Kent, UK) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
For fans of the full game that want a bit more war and conquest this is a must have! I do feel that the "balance" or the full game has been altered to favour a more aggressive player but the pay back is worth it. The new Civilisations are fun and the new Leaders add fresh light. The unique buildings is a nice touch as well. The great general is quite handy for military production. I haven't played them myself yet but I hear the new scenarios are very good. All in all a very good package that adds to a brilliant game. Maybe a tad pricey though... 15 would have been better. I had no real problem with crashing or running the graphics.
A worthwhile addition to the wonderful Civilization IV April 22, 2007 Mr. M. Wilson (Wrexham, North Wales, UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Warlords makes Civilization a little more violent (the clue is in the name). It is easier and more rewarding to win by domination and conquest. When I was starting to tire of the original, Warlords added another six months or more of playtime. Excellent value.
Can't go wrong for a tenner March 14, 2007 Chris Clifford (Zurich, Switzerland) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Given the new price of under 10 quid, you really can't go wrong with this expansion pack. It adds new life to a game which I've actually never tired of.
Great fun - but overpriced July 31, 2006 FatMan (UK) 67 out of 69 found this review helpful
The expansion pack is almost perfect. It does what it says on the box; nothing less, nothing more. Stability is good, some occasional glitches, but nothing too important. My only concern is cost. It costs almost exactly the same as the original game. I am not playing CIV4 scenarios and the benefits of this expansion pack is limited. OK, great generals is nice, new wonders are good (but there are only 3 of them in Warlords), new building types - finally here. The overall gameplay is still more or less the same. If you are CIV4 fanatic, buy it, otherwise wait for few months and do not pay more than 10 for this. It is really good, but just not worth the current price.
