Amazon.co.uk Review: In a nutshell: The world's scariest first person shooter makes a return with an expansion packed filled with more ghostly apparitions and gun fetishism than you could ever want. The lowdown: Despite having some of the best graphics and artificial intelligence of any recent first person shooter, as well as the creepiest atmosphere, the original F.E.A.R. didn't do nearly as well as it deserved. This expansion offers a second chance to see what you were missing with a story that picks up immediately from the end of the original game as you try to escape the destruction of the Origin Facility. The expansion doesn't really add much that is new beyond a few new weapons (including some super useful sentry guns) and enemies (such as a giant walking tank) and it is rather short but it's still got the best gunfights in the business. Most exciting moment: Despite the Japanese horror influenced atmosphere, the best thing about F.E.A.R. is just how intelligent your enemies are. They'll constantly try to outflank and outmanoeuvre you and many times you'll only be saved by the use of your essential bullet time ability. In the end it's your intelligent opponents you fear the most, not the virtual ghosts. Since you ask: The reason that there are no new multiplayer options in the game is that a free update has already been released called F.E.A.R. Combat. In an unusually generous move you can download it for nothing from the F.E.A.R. website at www.joinfear.com. The bottom line: More of the same of one of the most underrated shooters of last year.-HARRISON DENT

More of the same November 3, 2006 Mr. J. H. Smith (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you need more FEAR in your life you will love this, carries on were the last one finished. Game play is up to the high standard of the first instalment but strangely seems to play slightly better and levels seem more detailed plus you have a few new cool weapons at your disposal. If you liked the first game and you can (or need) to leave FEAR COMBAT alone for a while get this.

More of the same? Absolutely and thank goodness. If anything Extraction Point is better than than the first installment. If you liked the first one you will love this. As with the first game you will need a fairly high spec machine to play the game. The minimum spec on the game case should be ignored. You would have to turn the graphics down to sega mega drive levels just to get it to run. Very scary. Very good.
Not so much a sequel but a great follow on November 2, 2006 S. Weir (Edinburgh) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This game takes place as soon as the last game ends. And it is as good and kreepy as the original. The game starts off at a very fast pace with a gun battle within the first few minutes in a church of all places. it then carries off at high speed. The other two survivors of the helicopter crash go off on their own and you are reunited with one of them before they join the huge body count. Its great fun. But which side is Alma on. Is she playing both sides? or is there something that much more to her plan? you will have to play to find out. The scenes in the subway and the hospital are just great. Also there are new weapons, A laser gun which targets enemies very well and a mini gun which is okay but the targeting is rubbish, you hit nearly everything but the target you are aiming at, but still its a fun weapon. All in all this is a good follow up to a genuinely kreepy game.
Epic October 31, 2006 A. Caldeira (UK) Dont want this to be a review that spoils it for players that havent played FEAR yet...basically Extraction point starts where FEAR finished, they even show a video to remind you. Anyway, the graphics are not any better than FEAR but this is still a great thing! There are a few new weapons to play with..but i will let you explore that yourself! The AI is still top notch, I am yet to find a game that tests me as much as the FEAR games have. And yes, the supernatural scenes will still make you shat your pants.. Fear is a beautifully violent game, it is visually stunning and is just a pure rush to play...the expansion pack is just topping up your addiction.
Still up there.... October 30, 2006 M. Williams (The Garden of Wales) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I rated the original 5 stars. For obvious reasons. However i have a slight niggle with this one hence the 4 stars.Whilst the first one had more of a scary physcological approach to it.(i understand a different studio was blessed with this expansion pack). It seems they feel reducing gameplay to almost total darkness in levels is the way to 'scare' people. Its really irritating that even with the brightness maxed up it it so dark in places(even with the flashlight on) it seems on occasions unplayable. The usual enemies occur of course(an older alma.Naked!) and at times i feel its much of the same.Although you do get far more forces thrown at you(and the odd different weapon)all be it in almost pitch black darkness. If this title was released a little quicker i think it would have retained its edge.Dont get me wrong though. Its still a great game. And you still must have it especially for 17 quid.A little more story board imagination the next time around would push this title back up into the 90's plus as opposed to the 80's.
