Brilliant machine, I no longer drink instant coffee! December 13, 2006 F. Perry (UK) 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
I bought a Tassimo which I sent back after 3 days. It leaked everywhere and produced plastic tasting drinks which gave me a head ache! I love the Senseo, it doesn't do all the flash things Tassimo does, but makes a lovely cup of coffee! You can buy standard pods in any UK supermarket, but online including ebay, you can get cappuccino, latte, mocha, and tea. I've bought eco friendly pods too which you fill with your own coffee. After making a cup, I remove the used pod and run another cup, which washes the machine out with boiling water and saves washing up! We have a large filter coffee machine for when we want large amounts of coffee, and use this frequently for when we want one or two cups. Coffee is not supposed to be boiled, so I do find, if I add large amounts of cold milk, this coffee is not that hot! I simply microwave milk in a mug while the machine is heating up. I no longer drink instant at home! Great priced machine too!
Wonderful March 28, 2008 Magzy A (Guildford, Surrey United Kingdom) We have just purchased our second Senseo coffee maker. The other one was used daily for nearly 2 years. I felt like a change of colour so I'm passing my old one onto a friend. I couldn't be without one. I don't have instant coffee in the house now. It's just as quick to make it in the Senseo and you get a brilliant cup of coffee everytime. Pity not all shops sell the mug size pods.
The senseo March 31, 2008 Mr. I. A. Pearson (France) Just bought this machine which is great. While in the Uk it may sometimes be difficult to find the pods, try a trip to France. Most supermarkets stock at least 6 varieties of pods, go to Auchun and get 12 including Cappuccuno, vienna, espresso, corse, arabica just to name 5.
Still happy after 6 months May 28, 2006 RobFromReading (Reading, UK) 48 out of 48 found this review helpful
Sometimes initial views are a little optimistic or pessimistic, so I thought I'd write this review now after using a Senseo machine in my office for 6 months. 3 of us in one office use it. I love coffee, good coffee, but don't have time (can't be bothered!) to head off to the company kitchen all the time. I got the Senseo, a small stainless steel flip-top bin for putting used pods in (like soggy used tea-bags). These are available from some suppliers, worth getting. After a while we also got the larger capacity water tank for about 8 extra. A small fridge - just big enough for one pint of milk, and a large water filter jug completed our mobile setup! Works well. The Senseo makes pretty good coffee. By purchasing pods online and buying in large quantities they typically cost us about 8p per pod. Remember it's two pods per large mug. For its purpose this is still the best machine around. Good range of coffee flavour choices by ordering online. Works reliably. Easy to clean. (Hint: first cup each day insert no pod and just run water through... helps clean through before first cup of the day).
Nice coffee maker- shame about the coffee...... December 10, 2005 Ian Wantling 55 out of 58 found this review helpful
Easy to use, efficient and quick is the best way to summarise the actual coffee maker, and as kitchen appliance it's quite eye catching. I was pleasantly suprised at the actual taste of the coffee which was dispensed with a creamy top layer. The pack of coffee pods which came with the machine didn't last long and each pod is only suitable to make one, small (150 ml)cup of coffee. If you enjoy a mug of coffee in the morning then you need to use the "double pod" adapter - thus using two of the supplied pods... Fair enough you may think (and so did I)... until it came to popping down to Tesco and buying the said pods. Astonisingly these come in at £2.45 for 18 pods (available in mild, medium and dark roast). If like me, you enjoy a mug of coffee then one pack of pods will give you 9 mugs of coffee - that's over 27p per.drink; and again if like me you enjoy two or three mugs of coffee before the daily grind begins then it soon starts to add up when multiplied by two or more people over a period of a week.... A little searching on the net revealed that reusable pods are available to buy and you can simply fill these with your favoured ground coffee and get the same results. Don't try to cheat and use the same pod twice - the 2nd cup is virtually pure water. All said - the actual coffee is a wonderful drink which, if you're looking at buying this machine, is what you're after. If you don't mind the cost of the pods then you're onto a winner, but I've decided they're a rather expensive way of drinking coffee and will use the machine for my first cup of the day - after that it's back to the Carte Noir or Nescafe Black Gold....
