5 out of 5 stars Makes wonderful coffee   December 28, 2007

This little machine and the separate frother make a great cup of coffee. You buy the coffee capsules from nespresso.com, and they work out at about 23p each - much cheaper than the 2.50 you would pay from Starbucks, and the coffee is just as good. It makes lattes, cappucinos and espressos. There are a multitude of different coffee strengths and flavours available, including some good de-cafs. Before discovering this machine, I bought a Nescafe Dolce Gusto and thought the coffee was awful. The two draw backs are now that I have this machine, it's spoilt me and I can't enjoy a 'normal' cup of instant coffee or one of the pre-mixed sachets any more, and every time someone comes to visit, they ask me for one of my great coffees. In fact since buying the machine, I've also bought one for the staff at work, my cousin's got one (she recommended it to me by insisting I taste one of it's lattes) and my mother in law is just about to buy one!

5 out of 5 stars Great machine for the money   January 20, 2008

There is a review here that gives the M100 just one star and says that the machine makes 'tepid' cofee that is undrinkable with milk added - what a complete load of nonsense.
The M100 is a brilliant machine, it makes excellent espresso and when used with the Aeroccino makes excellent latte etc..
I previously owned a Gaggia Classic and whilst it made great espresso I have to say that the M100 is better and a lot less hassle.
Buy one today, you won't regret it - unless you like scalding hot coffee that is!

5 out of 5 stars The best coffee machine!   February 4, 2008

Having tried several coffee machines in the past- La Pavoni espresso, magimix robot chef etc they are off to ebay because this machine is so much quicker and better! I bought it to keep on our boat but it's staying at home because it is so quick and easy to use. It's clean and fast and makes perfect espressos every time. I'm a latte fan and the aerocino that comes with it is great, so fast!Great for hot chocolates too. Yes the coffee is hot enough just make sure you warm the cup with the rinsing water. It's neat and compact so doesn't take up much space. You won't be disappointed.

I bought the Magimix Nespresso machine as a gift for my boyfriend and it has to be his best gift yet. I can't stop him using it - he's on about 3 coffee's a day!

It's very easy to use - pull handle up, put capsule in, push handle down press button and that's it. It's also very easy to clean (which was the main problem with our other coffee machine). We also never used to be able to make a nice cup of coffee with our old machine but with this one you get a perfect cup every time. It came in very handy over the festive period with friends popping over just to have a Nespresso coffee.

The capsules are very easy to order from Nespresso, we ordered on Christmas day and they were with us within 3 days! We ordered a display case which is great to bring out after dinner and let guests pick their own coffee like mints. My mother liked it so much she bought one the same day too.

Now to the Aeroccino -- wow...it also is very easy to use, add a little milk to the Aeroccino, turn on, it runs for 90sec then you have lovely frothy milk, that is great in both coffee and hot chocolate. So all in all very impressed with both the Aeroccino and the Magimix Coffee Machine.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent coffee and superb system   April 4, 2008

I bought a Nespresso system on the recommendation of my Italian colleague, who described it as some of the best coffee he's tasted. As he said "I am an Italian and I know my coffee, so trust me." He also owns a Gaggia and he says that his Nespresso system was better, as well as being much easier and tidier because you don't have to clear up coffee grounds all the time and clear out the machine.

So, I did trust him and I plumped for the Magimix M100 with the Aeroccino because of the good reviews, as well as the fact that I'm a 1-cup-a-day person, so there was little point in going for the really expensive, all-singing and all-dancing models. I have not been disappointed. The coffee tastes excellent and the variety of capsules available means everyone can find a blend to suit their tastes. The coffee is also very smooth thanks to what is probably the thickest crema I've seen on an espresso. The capsules work on a drop-in and drop-out system, which is activated by a very solid handle, and it is very easy to use. The used capsules collect within a basket inside the machine so all you have to do is tip them out into the bin, replace the basket, and you're done.

The machine is also very good. The pump isn't too noisy and, providing you let the machine warm up and you pre-heat the pump and cup by running some hot water through from the ample water reservoir, you can be assured of a piping hot espresso. The machine can generate 19 bar of pumped water pressure, which is far superior to the 15 bar of steam pressure you get with some traditional coffee machines. This is because steam can sometimes burn the coffee and lead to a bitter taste.

The Aeroccino is also a clever gadget. Just chuck some chilled milk in, press the button and, depending on which attachment you place on the very smart magnetic-rotor system, you either have hot froth for a cappuccino or hot milk for a latte within 50 seconds. The froth is so thick that you have to spoon it out. Lovely!

For 100 with the Aeroccino, the Magimix M100 is a brilliant system for those looking for a really good espresso at home. Coffee aficionados might turn their noses up at it, but I think what I am drinking is every bit as good as what I have in Cafe Nero, Costa, Starbucks, etc. and, at 23p per drink, it is much cheaper! Well done Magimix and well done Nespresso!
