Good coffee, kept warm March 3, 2008

We had been looking for some time for a coffee maker that came with a thermos flask to keep coffee warm instead of stewing it on the more common hotplate. Reviews suggested that a now discontinued (and very expensive) Siemens Porche m\c was what we needed but as we could only find a second hand 1 for 100+ we decided to pass. A current m\c from same manufacturer seemed to get universally dreadful reviews so after much agonising we opted for Krups m\c above and bought from lakeland.
Out of the box impressions were that it was not quite as robust and substantial as I was expecting - there was even a small break on jug spout - for c 80. However instructions were clear and quality of coffee was obviously our main concern. So how is the coffee? Absolutely fine, definitely on a par with all of the various cafetiers, percolators, pod machines etc that we have used over the years. So it makes a good, hot cup of coffee.
And does it stay warm? If we prime the flask (and later on, maybe the cup as well) then there is still good, hot coffee three hours later.
Misc points.
The jug pours well - in spite of small damage
We haven't bothered much with timer feature but display is easy to read and use.
There isn't much coffee brewing odour given off - for better or worse?
All told it does just what we were hoping for, and one month on we are pretty pleased with it. Only time will tell about overall robustness.
Now to find the perfect coffee.....
