5 out of 5 stars Lovely design and does the job well   October 27, 2005

This is the perfect juicer if you like a freshly squeesed orange juice in the morning. My daughter has started wanting fresh orange juice and after a few weeks of doing it manually i decided to inverst in a juicer and it was well worth it. Its makes the morning "task " much easier and quicker and i also get a lot more juice from the orange . Its very easy to clean , i definitly recommend!

5 out of 5 stars Much better than I thought it would be   August 27, 2008

First off I read a few of the reviews for the different juicers and decided that the idea that I would be making lots of juices from apples, carrots etc was a fantasy. So instead I concentrated just on citrus fruit juicers. I looked at a few online and popped down into my local dept shop to see what they had on the shelf. Now generally I'm of the opinion that "you get what you pay for" and also "just buy it once and buy the right one". I hate having that nagging feeling when I use something mediocre that I could have something else that does the job better. So my criteria for choice were, in order of most to least important:
- good juice extraction
- not messy in operation
- dishwasher safe
- well built
- compact for storage
- attractive
- reasonably priced
I ended up suprisingly easily with a shortlist of just 2: A very expensive German one (Krups at 120 pounds) and this one. The others failed on:
- Having too many parts making them fiddly in cleaning, storage, assembly and use
- Thin plastic that you know would break soon enough
- Trendy but silly designs which look good but take up too much space
- Not being dishwasher safe (what were they thinking of?!)
- Having a spout too low to fit a normal size glass under
- Being simply too big
In the end I rejected the Krups because although it was very well made it was a traditional and outdated design, and somewhat overkill (Why is it that Germans can engineer and evolve a design but cannot innovate?).
Result is I'm very happy. The design is very simple yet very effective. There are only 3 parts that get dirty and they all pop in the dishwasher. The plastic is satisfyingly chunky with no nooks and crannies to get food stuck in and most important of all it gets all the juice out of the oranges. What's not clear from the pictures is that when you squeeze the juice it fills up the body of the juicer so you don't need a separate jug or glass. Therefore what I tend to do is make a whole jugful of juice and stick the jug itself in the fridge. Alternatively I put the oranges themselves in the fridge so you have cool juice as you squeeze it.
All in all highly recommended and for the price fantastic value for money- so much so I've just bought another for a gift.
