A first class piece of equipment July 10, 2007 M. Bruce (Berkshire, England) 23 out of 23 found this review helpful
This is a wonderful piece of kit that does exactly what it says on the tin. I replaced my old power strip with the IntelliPanel, plugged the PC base unit into the master socket, and my monitors, printer, speakers, etc, into the remaining peripheral sockets. Now when I switch on the PC, 5 seconds later all the peripherals switch on, too; then when I shutdown the PC, 5 seconds after shutdown all the peripherals switch off. No more Standby Mode drain! Note that if you have equipment such as external drives that must be switched on first and switched off last, you may want to consider providing it/them with a separate power source. In addition, it doesn't have to be used for computers - you can use it for your home entertainment system, or anything else that has one piece of equipment that always has to be switched on when in use.
Bulky power supplies no problem. May 14, 2008 Scratcher (UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Just plug a simple 4 gang extension strip into one of the peripheral sockets and plug your bulky power supplies into the strip. Works fine for me.
Does what it says BUT..... November 3, 2007 D. Robinson 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
To get an idea if this is going to save you any money first take a reading from your electric meter. I did this and found that overnight it costs me 5 units which equates to 139 a year in electricity used by standby!!!!!! The night I plugged this gadget in my usage dropped to 2 units over the same time scale thus saving me 83!!. Now all that is on over night is the large freezer and Fridge freezer and two digital alarm clocks and SKY+ instead of the above and these: PC, Scanner, Printer, Wireless mouse and keyboard, PC Surround system, LCD Monitor, 2 TV's, Hifi, DVD, Scart Router, Modulator, TV sender, PS2 So YES get one or two. There is however one problem if your appliance has a large transformer it will take up two slots on the unit. I got by this by using a small extension with two extrasockets on it and it works fine now.
Good but could be better August 30, 2007 ajw_1974 (UK) 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
All seems to work ok. However if you have transformer plugs that are big and bulky, they cover the row above so you loose a socket. It either needs to be slightly wider or a single strip. Otherwise a good well built idea.
great - one flaw November 27, 2007 Mr. Peter Adamson (oxford UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Excellent product, simple to use and does what it says. Only one criticism - the sockets are too close together. This makes the unit smaller. But some plugs (esp those with adapters of any kind) overlap adjacent sockets, making them unusable. In my case I was only able to use 6 out of the 8. You can get around this easily by using an extension bar plugged into one of the sockets - but this defeats the point of making the unit more compact. Other than that - a really good product, saving time and energy.
